Is there concern about Jalen Cook?

quote:jeez, 2 good guards announce us in their final group AFTER we supposedly filled out? Either Cook isn't a given and / or Hunter Dean will be a walk on.
If we get his commitment, that means someone else has to leave. Any predictions?
Eta: either way, clearly something is going on that we aren't privy to. Perhaps Woody got an extra roster spot from his quasi in law at the NCAA.

If Pullin signs then Hannibal is transferring out as a grad, just wouldn't be enough minutes with Cook/Pullin at the point and Stewart/Ward/Williams/Wright splitting up time at SG/CG and SF. As much as I like Hannibal's grit and downhill game the other new guards offer better handles and a more all round game.

I could be wrong but I thought the portal closed meaning no new portal entries

Also just want to say the offseason recruiting coverage by On3 and 247 this year has been absolutely horrendous. Conflicting reports, lack of follow ups about specific players, and almost no information about potential prospects until days after they commit. I would say its just a local LSU writer thing, but I've seen multiple schools where its been just as bad

Grad transfers are still allowed to enter the portal. There are no restrictions on a student athlete that graduates from his university.

Anyone have any idea when he’s supposed to announce?

Billy used to do a bunch of basketball stuff in 247 but now that he’s running the on3 site he’s completely checked out on basketball. Brune does a pretty good job but he’s a 23 year old kid who has no previous connection to the school or program so he doesn’t have any sources.

Does anyone know if Cook is on track to graduate from Tulane this summer possibly? Per the NCAA he would need a waiver to play this year if he isn't a grad transfer.

Devon Pryor decommitted
Posted on 6/19/23 at 10:17 am to ForeverLSU5
Pryor flew under the radar for a while. LSU was one of the first major teams to offer him which explains his quick commitment. Probably getting a lot more attention as he rises up some recruiting boards, so he decided to decommit. Still very frustrating and kills any momentum we had for the 2024 class. Mcmahon once again getting LSU's name up there, but not able to close out the deal

Devin Pryor has committed to Texas and reclassified to 2023. Texas only had one recruit lined up for the 2023 season and it sounds like they pulled out every stop to get him to stay in state and reclassify to be available this fall.

According to Verbal Commits LSU has offered 6'10" Bobby Cannon of Quality Education Academy in Winston-Salem, NC. Was able to get the chance to see him play in person for several games over this weekend and it looks like he's an intriguing prospect with tremendous length, ballhanding skills, and range out to the 3-point line. He made a couple of really impressive "chase down" blocks and has potential as a rim protector. He moves really well for a player of that size and is quite athletic. This is someone that McMahon should be watching. Looks like a late bloomer who will rise on the charts. He is very skinny and definitely needs to add weight and strength but has a lot of potential.

4* PG Curtis Givens has us in his final 7 schools
Givens will be on campus this week for an official visit. He visited Georgia Tech last month. He picked up offers from Florida State and UCONN at the end of May, but its looking like it may come down to LSU and Georgia Tech for his final decision

Curtis Givens leaning towards LSU? How many recruits will end in the 24 class? Imma say 4 recruits but I want yall’s opinion
