Man these are some elite numbers out of the pen from the left side in the ACC. Was really good as a freshman and even better as a sophomore. 38K/8BB in 22.1 IP. Want...

Ah, thanks. Obviously would love Trosclair but I wonder if that's more of a 2028 piece.

You dont think kelly could get another power 4 pitching coach job? I thought he did a good job here the first time around and last year at a&m. Injuries seemed to kill them this year

I was just coming here to ask that

He just has a very weird resume now. Pretty much let go at Arizona State but landed here so it didn't seem like he was let go. Pretty much let go here but got a HC gig so it didn't seem like he was let go. Bounced after 2 seasons (with a disaster of a season 2) to be the PC, so even though he wasn't let go from the HC gig it wasn't trending well. And now outright fired at A&M.
I actually thought he did a lot with a little here. MaKhail Hilliard, Eric Reyzelman, and Paul Gervase carried that staff with a bunch of guys who were a year away from really being able to help.
But that kind of resume makes me think he'll get a lot of questions.
On the Washington job, his second year was the first year in the Big 10. And Eddie Smith admitted this year that Washington doesn't give baseball any rev share. So he could have just looked at the situation and thought it was too big a lift for him.
I think all the moves are explainable on their own. It's just a weird story when strung to together.
ETA: I was a year off on his year 2 at Washington

Jay disagrees
To be clear, I'm not saying there should be a fall guy here. Jay has enough clout to have a season like this one and not need to fire anyone. Anyone without two natty's is going to have a fall guy for the season we had.

Let go at ariz st because he was interviewing here. But anyway, point being, i think its decently explainable, i could see him easily getting another shot at a lower power 4

No chance he would pitch next year right? So this would be selling him how they will rehab him and potentially be ready for a weekend role in 2028?

I think late April maybe? Not exactly sure

Oh ok a buddy of mine knows some players on North western state and a players mom on Facebook said he’ll be back in 6 months. That seems really fast for TJ recovery
Posted on 6/2/26 at 5:46 pm to Biggmatt78
That does seem like an awful quick rehab.

Internal brace is a quicker recovery. I don’t know the normal timeline, but it’s shorter than TJ.

The ramp up and potential wildness is the issue for 2027 for me. But for 2028, sure

Depends if it was a repair or reconstruction. Repair (brace) is quicker and more like 6-9 months back on the mound , reconstruction is 12-15 months back on the mound throwing to live batters . But the process of rehabbing back usually goes longer to compete at the college level especially I would imagine in the SEC. LSU program would be one of the best at getting a pitcher competing again. I would imagine the goal would be bullpens in the fall and competing next spring if he got the brace.

Wasn’t that Martins specialty with the astros?

Because he likely didn’t have a full UCL reconstruction. It was probably a UCL repair with an InternalBrace, that’s really the only scenario where a six-month return makes sense. A true UCL reconstruction is still a 12–18 month recovery.

Yes, he played a major role in their return to throw protocols with them. Essentially, reimagined the return to throw progression from TJ.

Yes, Martin specialized in returning to throw protocols after surgeries along with other strength and conditioning duties. Martin is highly regarded within MLB for injury prevention and return to play. Which made this year pretty ironic with the injuries.
