quote:
Mason Braun, OF, Penn HS, Mishawaka, Ind. (unranked)
Braun cranked the longest home run, a 430-foot shot, and tied Florida high school catcher Ty Harvey for the most 400-foot blasts with three. He has legitimate left-handed power but has struggled against quality pitching, so he'll likely wind up at Louisiana State rather than get drafted early enough to turn pro.
quote:
Marcos Paz, RHP, Hebron HS, Carrollton, Texas (unranked)
Paz rated as the top high school pitching prospect in Texas before he had Tommy John surgery last summer. The LSU recruit looked good when he returned to the mound in a bullpen for scouts on May 29 and his heavy sinker kicked up a couple of notches to 93-95 mph on Wednesday. He also threw three 83-86 mph sliders, including one with the highest non-Barr spin rate (2,952 rpm) and a trio of 87-mph changeups.
Mason Braun and Marcos Paz showed up on standouts of Day 2 of the MLB Draft Combine. May get lucky with Paz similar to Kade Anderson with TJ and falling in the draft.

Their reviews also seem to suggest we might land them

Slow news day, but I wonder if things are already done with Carson Bailey from Baylor.
On Instagram he is following:
lsubaseball
lsubarstool
redcuplsu
lsu.prime
lsu.szn
batonrougebkm
lsu_capital
lsu bombs
Sure seems like someone that is unofficially official...

Further creeping reveals Danny Lachenmayer following a few LSU pages as well.

Didn't jay say earlier this week we have commitments he can't talk about right now?
Posted on 6/19/25 at 12:55 pm to tigerbait2010
I think people have speculated that based on his press conference where someone asked him about the portal, but I took Jay's response to mean that he would talk about the current portal adds when the time is right, not that we have a bunch of committed guys that haven't announced yet.
Though, from the looks of it Bailey and maybe Lachenmayer may be silent commits or heavy LSU leans.

Safe to say he's committed

Prob shouldve posted this here, but jay had a quote last week that raised my ears regarding jordan. Basically a reporter asked him about jordan handling his duties while being in the running for another job and he mentioned that he hopes lsu values him as much as he does. It made me think we had a shot to keep him

Kendall tweeted that Josh Jordan was a front runner for it but Duke cut the salary of the head coaching job from what the last coach was making. Maybe that went into Josh Jordan staying if Jay talked them into giving him a little bump in pay.

Jordan is in a position where he can be very selective about what jobs he goes after. He’s been tweeting all week as if he’s still recruiting for LSU so it makes sense.

quote:Josh makes $400k per year at LSU. Pollard was making $800k a year at Duke. Kendall reported that Jordan would be "making $350k more" but the article also insinuated that Duke wasn't ready to invest in baseball at the level Jordan would have liked.

Excerpt from the article:
quote:
Josh Jordan, LSU
This is your frontrunner and likely hire at Duke, unless he decides to decline. Jordan is one of the premier recruiters in college baseball, and was a key piece of Duke’s early rise under Chris Pollard — serving as the recruiting coordinator for the Devils at the time. Jordan spent 10 seasons with the Blue Devils and knows precisely the right formula to win at a high level in the ACC. I do not think Jordan will be a slam dunk/easy get for Nina King and the Devils. He will need assurances that Duke is committed to winning at a high level with his coaching staff, while it will also need to make sense financially for his family. Jordan currently makes around $400,000 annually as the recruiting coordinator and assistant for the Tigers. $350K more a year is real money, but is it enough to leave a juggernaut program for all the challenges the Duke job provides?
