Cam Johnson was number 11 in ‘23 class per PG, Curiel(10th) Schmidt(6th) Caminiti(4th) and Griffin(2nd) are all in top 10 of ‘24 class per PG.

But if I were Schmidt, I'd ignore everyone around me and take Metaloctopus' advice to go to LSU. Not because I had to, but for the children.

And for Metaloctopus.

So is Curiel good?

Compare Curiel to Crews out of high school for us that don’t follow high school guys too much.

I think he’s a guy who can have a Milam & Larson type impact next year.

Schmidt was on OTb talking about how much he loves LSU.

He grew up going to every home game and traveled multiple times to see LSU in the tournament including this year.

He just got too good too fast.

LH hitter with solid all around game. Will likely play CF. Crews would not be a good comp for him. Doesn’t have the power Dylan has.

Has dropped slightly in eyes of mlb scouts. I’m not sure why.

Curiel played in the best HS league in the country, and best by a lot. He would have faced more top pitching in one game than Kling faced his whole Hs career.

Good! I wasn’t trying to say anything bad about him, just saying I want him to be better than Kling lol.

I mean he’s a top 10 player in the class, those guys don’t make it to campus. I won’t pretend to pay super close attention to scouting reports on these high school guys but it wouldn’t be outlandish to say he’s your everyday CF and a good bat in the lineup as a true freshman.

He’s a better all around player than Larson or Milam imo. CF would belong to him.

you have to feel like a guy coming out of California has seen a little more high end pitching than a guy from Pennsylvania.

I would be very excited for him to come to school. well see

Derek is a very high level, elite player . He was ranked number 1 in the country for a long time in front of Griffin and fell a little after this past summer. Power at the plate is the part he has to develop. You can’t guarantee success but he’s a potential star and can be the most impactful recruit in the 24 class.

fred, in 21 & 22' he was the #1 ranked player in his class. Had a poor summer in 23' and dropped a bit, as he didn't quitedevelop physically like some of the other guys who passed him up.
