Would much rather Diaz than Wicker

Man, college athletics really suck for small school. Wofford and Indiana State had incredible years with a team that would have several returning players, then both get gutted.

Lost their head coach.
In general I do agree with your statement though.

I hate to be that guy, but in the same sense if Wofford coach got offered the South Carolina Job he would leave in a heartbeat. Most these kids are trying to play in the show, but for the ones that know they probably don’t have a shot I don’t blame them if they can maximize their earning potential now.

It’s kind of cyclical, isn’t it? Not for them in particular, but the system as a whole.
Players leaving bigger schools like LSU have to land somewhere, too.
And I mean their coach just resigned.
Looking at their roster, they recruit hard on the JC level: I would think their model is sustainable as well.

are both of the indiana st transfers from puerto rico? maybe they are a packaged deal?
that ss has some really nice numbers. i am seeing .360 avg, 18 homers, 91 hits. if so, want.

it goes both ways, some of the smaller schools can grab some talent from power 5 teams that are looking for more playing time
the Indiana St coach left to go to USF hence LSU gets players from both schools
I actually like the approach Jay is honing in on right now, look at UK and some of the players they grabbed from the portal, let's face it, you were lucky to get the caliber of player you got in Skenes and White. Most schools are gonna do everything they can to keep those players with NIL resources going forward.

and baseball this isn’t new.
If anything teams will keep guys longer.
Look at Jobert.
Played 2020 at Nichols and then jumped to JUCO so he could make a move to a D1 school without sitting a year.
Now he could just stay at Nichols another year.

Another one LSU isn't connected to yet but I've brought up here before is Kellan Montgomery from Long Beach.
Him and Myles Patton were their 1 and 2. I haven't looked at their stats lately, but I think I remember liking Montgomery more than Patton.

Jay is clearly going scorched earth after some of the portal defections have caused him to re-evaluate how he builds his teams.

if he wanted to or if there was interest there.
2020 was a weird year. He was hittting .365 but small sample size.

They deleted their whole 24’ roster fwiw

The D1 portal is showing Wicker as a commit, but I haven't seen an announcement. I put Hernandez on the list because we have seen an announcement, but he's not showing on D1 as a commit.
Weird.
Weird.

I began following both after you mentioned them a few months ago. I actually prefer Patton. His FB was up to 95-96 during the fall and spring if I remember correctly, and his overall profile reads like a guy with more room to grow.
