Could this be a draft leverage thing?

I guess it’s possible, but he’s a 6’1” 190 lbs 1B/DH type who only just showed his power as a junior. I’d lean to him not being a draft risk.

Nice get, hopefully jay targets alot of upperclassmen in the portal, we’ll need them to compliment this strong sophomore class

Looks quick to the ball and not much head or leg kick in that swing motion, thought his strikeout numbers would be lower honestly

I’ll take 20+ homers and. A 18% K rate any day of the week.

I was a little bored so I went through Hernandez’s box scores vs teams who made the tournament, plus P5 opponents (I excluded a couple of BIG10 matchups). Obviously this doesn’t tell the entire story, but he was effective against quality comp. Looks like he hit in the 3 spot much of the year, 5 hole in a few games as well.

vs Louisville
0-5, 4K

vs UConn
1-4 2k

vs USF
2-4, 2 singles, 3RBI
(Did not face Dorsey)

vs Vandy
2-3, 2B, Run

vs USM (3 games)
3-9, 3 R, SB, 2 HBP, 2K

vs Illinois
2-5, R, 2K

vs Indiana
2-3, HR, 2RBI, 3R

vs Indiana
1-4, HR, 2RBI, R, 2K

vs Illinois
3-4, 2 2B, 2RBI, 2R

vs Evansville (3 games)
4-12 HR 3R RBI, HBP, 2K

vs Evansville (conference tourney)
3-4, HR, RBI, R, HBP

vs Illinois (regional)
1-4, 2B, K

vs Western Michigan (regional)
0-3, 2 BB, R, HBP

vs Illinois (regional)
2-4, HR, RBI, BB, 2 R

vs Kentucky (regional)
0-4, K, 3 GO (1 GIDP)

I’m finishing it up now but yeah he was very candid. He made several mentions of having players that are bought in. He mentioned it at time during the season too.

18% K
6% BB

First thing I really like to look at with players I haven’t seen before.

The best hitters walk more than K, or are even.

As good of a year as he had on a lower level, I’m surprised it isn’t closer to even.

He was HBP 11 times in 24’, and 13 times in 23’ , however.

And 8 times in 22 summer league games in 22’. So that is definitely a pattern you can probably expect to continue.

Maybe getting a RH jobert-type here, best case.

This kid is a better hitter than Jobert IMO. .360 out of a 3 hole primarily. Jobert never hit close to .360 even down in the line up seeing more fastballs.

Granted, Hernandez has not faced SEC weekends during conference season. That will likely tame his numbers a bit.

The swing is kinda ugly, but I don't care how he does it if he produces. It's a nice, quiet approach but ugly otherwise.

It’ll be interesting to see what we get from Hernandez. I thought Bingham was a sure fire starter that would be a .300+ guy, I was wayyy off with that assumption.

A&M had a good bit of success with lower level guys coming to the SEC & playing well. It’s really a mixed bag because for every one of those guys, you can find 2 that were eaten up by SEC pitching.

His numbers read that he is a bit of a free swinger, albeit makes contact regularly. Kinda like Tommy White. But Tommy white is one of the most unique hitters I’ve ever seen. So I know he won’t be that stepping up a level
