Ive been trying to kind of built my own criteria on what a good lineup needs. And I think the 2023 team set the barometer.

2 Batmans (Crews / White)
1Robin (tre Morgan)

This year's team had 1 Batman (White) & maybe 1/2 of a true Robin (Jones).

Jay Johnson says as few as 5 or as many as 11
players on the current roster could be drafted next month.

“It will look different by design and I’m excited by that.”

The different by design quote sounds like “processing” was done. I too don’t like the idea of not building a program but the attrition this year so far is unprogramlike.

Jay didn't seem excited about that either because he mentioned that building a program is one the his strong suits.

I do like the effort and thought process (not surprisingly) he is putting into trying to get this new game figured out quickly. Seems like a lot of different moving parts and he is trying to stay ahead of it as much as possible.

He did mention Brady Neal name along with Noot when talking about people that exit interviews went well and he is excited to get to move forward with. So hopefully that means Neal does not plan to go anywhere.

Yeah the context was regarding how you try to build a program with current landscape and all the changes and he basically said it’s getting too difficult to build the program like he would want.

How would you rank Moore, Burke, and Amick?

Another interesting part I just got to in the interview is that talking about the JUCO commits. Says he can talk about 4 of the 5 because 1 has a slight question to it. Talked about Tanner Reaves, Blaise Priester, Trevor Schmidt, and Connor Ware. Not sure the reason but left out Daniel Harden.

He said the plan was always for Reaves to come after this season. Says he can play any position on the field except P and C and that provides plenty versatility.

Priester JUCO all american. Said he evolved a lot since last time here physically and has power with some better hitter tendancies.

Schmidt power type hitter that they are looking to have with Tommy gone and says his hope is to keep Jared Jones but he is in that bucket of 5-6 guys that can go either way. Says he can play 1B/OF.

Connor Ware dealt with a few injuries this season but was back pitching in the postseason and said a very strong arm that they need on the roster for next season and can be a big part of the staff.

Brent Haring is popping up as a candidate for multiple head coaching jobs. Kendall mentioned him for the Nicholls job and for the Pacific job.

just kind of the reality now....here especially.
1) we'll always be a well sought after transfer destination, due to the program support and more NIL money than most baseball programs.
2) our guys that don't break though in year one will be big tampering targets for other programs offering more PT.

probably get better returns from the portal than what's remaining of a RC class after the draft

Not to derail a thread, but Will Wade said this like 4 years ago This is what all college athletics has come to with the portal.

Summer ball update: Mavrick Rizy no longer on the roster for the Worcester Bravehearts. 2 starts, 8 IP, impressive K numbers.

I hope this just means he got the work in that he needed and is now on his way to Baton Rouge.

Prior to this year, FSU had only been to Omaha twice in the last 12 seasons. That's not going to be the case under Jarrett, is it?

It won't be.

Futures League Podcast w/ Maverick Rizy

I listened to this interview of him yesterday. Seems like the 2 starts was always the plan. Sounds like he will be on campus soon to start summer workouts. That is something that Jay also talked about in the presser just now is that they will get some recruits here a little earlier than usual in the summer to get a start on workouts and gaining weight for some of them.

Interesting comment about a few portal exits that had told Jay they were staying and then left anyways. But also damn, Jay is such a professional. I love the pride he has in his guys, even the ones who left. Good to hear him confident about Neal coming back. Him and Pearson really just need Tommy to show them how to hit a ball oppo lol

Most interesting part are some of the names he didn't talk about at all. such as Kling, makes you wonder whose decision that was to hit the transfer portal.
