I’m not arguing as I don’t really follow any of it, but I don’t know how Arambide’s stock could drop. Dude just destroyed a ton of good teams while leading his team to the Texas 6A title.
Hogg I’ve seen play several times. He’s good defensively…

The reports on Arrambide are that he is a bit of a showcase darling. Great pop times & double plus power in controlled settings. In games has a little more swing & miss/chase and may not be quite as polished defensively outside of great arm:/pop
All that to say, it doesn’t mean he won’t be great. But he was at one point in the upper echelon of HS prospects. I did not think he would have a chance to make it to college, as his helium was astronomical at one point

This aligns nearly perfectly with what I saw on the field this weekend. The defense was very polished and he did throw out a runner by a mile but the bat to ball skills did not jump. He hit 2 balls hard over the 2 games I watched.
I’m not implying there’s a lack of talent at all. I’m just saying it didn’t scream top prospect. Which should help us.

I don't think anyone should feel like he is gone. He is in the group of players who are 50/50 type. Arrambide, Curiel, Bateman, and Fountain are some to keep a close eye on as they all have some great upside potential but not as highly ranked a prospect as the guys that are definitely gone like Griffin, Schmidt, and Caminiti.

Not recruiting related but Maineri is now USC coach. What an unusual hire.

I just can’t see him dealing with the NIL and the portal stuff well. Guess we’ll see.

Agreed he quit recruiting here which is way easier than USC. Terrible hire, won’t last more than two years.

Should we be concerned about Mainieri hiring away Jamie Tutko?

Hadn't really thought about that, but IIRC Tutko's role expanded once Jay came to LSU. I don't know how well he was utilized under Mainieri.

Sounds like Rooney is headed to SC

Correct, Tutko was promoted once Jay came in and has more toys to play with here vs South Carolina. The only two reasons he would leave is him either hating Jay or more money at South Carolina which LSU would match.

Just for informational purposes on Arrambide since I’ve been looking around GC for rosters, stats, and stuff lately..

Casan Evans is such an intriguing prospect in this class who gets overshadowed from his lack of true position from junior/senior year...I love how he hasn't been overused as a pitcher where he'll probably fit in at the collegiate level.

Is he going to pitch here or is that still TBD?
Posted on 6/10/24 at 4:53 pm to ProjectP2294
Honestly the more I think about it if this is the direction they wanted to go Tanner could have come out and coached a few years while grooming someone to take over. That probably would have made their fan base happier than this.
