it would be disastrous to do this without giving people a year to plan

What I kinda of forget or didn't really know about Denny was that he caught a bunch before his senior year. I wonder if the staff was considering him behind the plate if Priester and Arrambide didn't make it here.
Should also be interesting to see how Delgado uses him. He can pitch and catch and really play anywhere.

I think they were exploring all options for catcher depth and he was part of that.

Javen Coleman signed a UDFA deal with the Blue Jays.

Jay said last night on Mikie’s show that Bear playing 3B or catching isn’t off the table

Do you know for how much?
100? 125? 150?

I just saw him on a UDFA tracker. No numbers were reported on it.

Jay said last night on Mikie’s show that Bear playing 3B or catching isn’t off the table
"He definitely can catch, or you can roll him over to 3rd base. I thought he was an elite first baseman... Jared did an excellent job defensively and I would say nothing is off the table right now"

He said he can definitely catch and slide over to 3B but he didn't really sound confident that it would happen but said he will keep an open mind going into the fall and spring with all the positions.
I might be reading too much into what he said but it didn't seem like the plan is for Bear to play anywhere but 1B.

No I agree. Just thought it was interesting and wanted to bring it to the board

The last 2 weeks he has been on fire. On July 5th he had a .194 avg and now up to .270.

He is playing better than these stats in the games i’ve watched. He has had 2 homers brought back and has had multiple doubles stolen

I know its a great problem to have. And im not ACTUALLY stressed about it....
but man....we are gonna have some good dudes on the bench, or transferring.
I dont envy JJ having to navigate it.

I'll take those stats all day playing against the pitching in the cape with wood bats. Jay hasn't gotten a chance to work with him yet either.
Edit:
Was curious so went back and looked at his last 8 games and his stat line is:
12-27 (.444)
2 HR
7 RBI
1 2B
3K/2BB
7 SB

Jay is going to work wonders with him. You can tell Stanfield has so much more in the tank if he can find a way to consistently stay connected and keep his hips from drifting.

Blows my mind that people have been sleeping on Stanfield (outside of this thread). I think he’s who I’m most excited about for next year. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen Stevenson level highlights out there

There are people that still refuse to believe the development of Braswell, or the development of Jones year over year.
