a little concerned with the logjam at some of the positions and how you keep those players happy, otherwise you gonna be in a similar position with portal next season
Jones coming back at 1B, what do you do with Hernandez and Yamin
OF is also very crowded
How do you not play Frey another season
Where does Reaves and Ryan fit with Braswell and Milam back
Don't get me wrong, all good problems to have

Are you quitting on next years team already?

Would not be mad if Coleman and Bronzini came back

If Jay was confident in Frey he wouldn’t have gone and got 3 1B/DH/OF types. I hope the dude outplays them all and cements himself in that DH spot, but in today’s baseball you stack as much talent as you can

Patient Jay is gone. We now have angry, on a mission Jay

The HR potential of this lineup is unreal.

A trend we’ve been talking about for a few years now. We gotta be more hesitant going forward to call these high school kids draft locks a year out

Interesting that he has Hayden has a “might” leave. Not encouraging anyone to get their hopes up, just saying

I think the major league is finally buying into using college as development instead of unnecessary multiple minor leagues

They’re finding out now how necessary those leagues were. The quality of baseball in the upper minors is the worst it’s ever been.
And they’re not using colleges for development. They’re using them to washout the non prospects. It’s cost cutting, not some over arching belief in college baseball.

MLB eliminated short season A ball several years ago. Lot of college players went there the year they were drafted. Been trending in this direction.

Next years lineup is going to have a beautiful blend of power/average/speed all over the place.

He thinks we try to negotiate with him, but he is gone.

Yeah, I imagine MLB teams would much rather not have to undo whatever development these kids get in college (so they better match the organization they're drafted to), but that's the price to pay to avoid having so many minor-league teams to fill and all the high school busts that only cost them money. It's also probably easier to reshape a known college-caliber talent than train up a high school prospect from the ground up.

You definitely know what you’re talking about
You just repeated an exact conversation I had over a year ago with a close friend who spent his life as an administrator in MiLB
VP in MiLB and GCL President
He consults with MLB still b/c they need him and his relationships with the Unions, but don’t get him started on the MLB owners

HS kids too, which is why a guy like Fountain surprised me by going pro. He’s going to play at the spring training facility for a while, then the jump to Single A will be a hell of a ride after playing high school ball in Nebraska.

You don’t try to keep them all happy because it isn’t possible. At least not at the expense of winning. Also if they are good problems to have then no reason to be concerned.

Think Coleman would come back?
