Same here, feel like Jay worked Jump’s ability to go later into games perfectly this past year. 6/7 from Shores into 2/3 from Sheerin would be enough to hurt your feelings next year

One of the more intriguing arms entering the 2025 season will be @LSUbaseball RHP Chase Shores. Absolutely loved Shores in my fall look before his freshman season. Has been up to 96-98 w/ FB and SL continues to develop. Got my hands on some live action footage. #MLBDraft

Can’t wait to see Shores back, super exciting potential for a full season. Like someone else said you’ll probably see him get eased back quickly a la Jump

I’ll go ahead and say it. That movement on the FB looks very familiar minus a few mph. Excited to see this guy back. If my memory serves me correct he had trouble putting guys away his freshman season but that video I just watched his stuff looks way more filthy than it did two years ago. This is gonna be fun!

I noticed that too. Looks like he may have added a cutter to his arsenal.
I remember him having a high velocity fastball his freshman year, but with no movement.
The fastballs in that video, other than the one up in the zone, had some sink and cut to them.

Definitely. Slider wasn’t great but it looks better. More break and a little slower. Really really excited about Shores

they both have had a long time
to rehab.

I think we’re all just super anxious because Coleman came back and wasn’t as good

but he may just not have been good.

Even with the great portal adds, even if Herring returns, even with Anderson, Shores has the highest ceiling, in my opinion.

Absolutely. There is no doubt that Shores has the highest ceiling on the pitching staff. If we talk straight ceiling without really looking at stats then I think Jacob Mayers is right behind him. Unfortunately you look at the stat line and see the walks and that makes you slow down on what to think of him for next season.

I think Mayers should be the mid week guy. Keep his volume of innings up and let him work on his control issues. And if he finds it, pitch him on the weekends.

I like that idea a lot.

The only other person I would say I would maybe put as the mid week starter is Maverick Rizy if he makes it to campus to get his stamina going in midweeks and he can be ready for a weekend spot in 2026. I really like the potential he brings for the future if he gets to campus.

Another fun fact about Anthony Eyanson's age: He's a month older than incoming freshman John Pearson.

I know we aren't really expecting him back anyway, but Fidel Ulloa now has 3 starts in the MLB Draft League.

The competition in that is generally pretty good. It's a lot of Day 2, Day 3, and UDFA guys. They usually move a ton of guys into pro ball from that league every year and the talent level in the league seems to have increased each year since it started.

People have been relatively quiet on him but I’d love to have him back. If he and herring come back then it would be time to start getting really excited about our pitching staff.

I thought I saw a slightly different arm angle from Shores but, after looking at some videos from his freshman year, it seems pretty similar. Alot else has changed, though, from the windup being more intent on anchoring and quicker (hiding the ball, deception), a different finish to assist in deceleration, the shape of his pitches, etc. Such a small snippet there, but wildly encouraging especially considering how much time we have to tighten up the loose screws before next season. His main issue as a freshman was putting guys away in pitchers' counts and, obviously, health. That small snippet shows that they're paying attention to those things in his rebuild.

ETA: I would have him talking to Skenes as often as possible. I'd put some more bulk in his legs, too. At that height, if he strengthened/stabilized his core some more, he may be able to throw 110.
