Another lefty to monitor

LHP Preston Prince, Niagara

6.10, 38 IP, 36 H, 42 BB (yikes), 33K, 2.035 WHIP

His freshman year he walked 23 in 13 innings.

Don’t see him as a major player but just reporting the facts

How does LSU find all these guys? Is there a "shadow staff" of scouts keeping tabs on these players throughout the season or is it just Jay, Jordan, and Tutko working their asses off 24/7 in the off-season? There's no way they have time to look for these guys during the season and there's far more places you have to look to find talent than in football. Just seems like a ton of work

You're not missing anyone. Anderson and Primeaux are the only 2 lefties for sure for next season. Gotta get a couple of non draft eligible ones, in my opinion. I'd like a non draft eligible catcher and infielder too.

I think at this point they are just looking at every LHP that hits the portal.

It is what it is but I feel like once the CWS is over stuff will happen and then once the draft is done. I hate waiting but I've technically been trained for this.

Technically 9 to 2. Brown was the 10th and is the 3rd. I just don't really see him pitching though. He's gonna be one of the main hitters.

Will LSU ever have a 2 way player under Jay?

I think he's open to it but it has to be a perfect storm. So far the candidates have all been too valuable/needed on 1 side and/or can't earn playing time on 1 side.

I feel like it would have to be an extremely special player who is an elite hitter and a good enough pitcher that they would be getting consistent innings if they were pitcher-only. And even then, I would expect them to be a 1-2 inning closer than a starting pitcher or a middle reliever. If they're more on the fringe either way, I think Jay would have them focus on their better side.

Last day as defending national champs. Hope y’all remembered to wear your overpriced national champions golf shirt.

I know I did. Mainly because it makes me look more buff than I am to impress the summer intern..jk jk

Just to put some numbers behind the push for pitching in the portal, here is what we're losing from last year's innings:

408.2 innings gone to graduation, the draft, or the portal.

122.1 innings potentially lost to the draft and one rumored portal entrant.

44.2 innings from last season with no portal rumors attached. 38.1 of those are Anderson.

There is a chance we only return 44.2 innings from last season.

So far in the portal we've added 170.2 innings of non-draft eligible guys.

And we've added 188 innings of draft eligible guys.
