He's projected as a mid to early round 1 pick, and not even as a pitcher. If he chose to come to college, he could do whatever he wanted to do from day 1. Pitch, hit, sleep in the dugout, practice without a shirt on, make the lineup, you name it.

FWIW, I've talked to my source who informed me about a few transfers last year (Including Waldrep to UF and Skenes to LSU) and he's heard this possibility too. Apparently it could have smoke.

They used Hagen really weird this year.
He was their Friday night starter the first 4 weekends of the season, then SEC play rolled around and they decided to make him a long reliever mostly early on in SEC play while Hollan moved into ace role to start. Smith showed no reason why he should be moved off the ace starter role, those first 4 starts of the year he went 19.1 IP and only gave up 3 ER in the non-conference. So he might have been frustrated getting moved to the pen early on, then his role was never really defined after that, they had him a few starts but also brought him in relief a lot. He started more games consecutively towards end of season again...might just be frustrated on how they used him this year.
His numbers were definitely best on Arkansas' staff. Hollan had a higher ERA (who took some Friday starts from him) and got hit a lot more than Smith did (.265 vs. .217 for Smith).

I've heard a rumor he might enter the portal from a couple people. Should know soon if it's true I would assume.
