Well he certainly has better stuff if he's considered a 3rd round type of pick out of high school. My point was more of he has that ability to come in and be effective as a starter right away similar to Poche. Poche had a 2.45 ERA his freshman year through 91.2 IP, couldnt strike anyone out, but people werent hitting him either...dead ball era that year (high seams) yes, but still was a great pitcher out the gate for us and Brown could be the same.
Now he certainly isnt going to have a 2.45 ERA in this era of squeezing pitchers and the flat seam ball, but at this rate we'd be excited with a guy who could average maybe 5+ innings a game and give up maybe 2-3 earned in that span on a consistent basis given which he could probably do.

not only that, jake is a great leader and person. My kids volunteer for buddy ball and jake has raised a ton of money for the org and goes out there and helps with the games like all the other kids that volunteer to help. great kid and a great family.
the way i feel about him is same way i felt about gavin guidry. just exceptional people and the type of leaders you can build teams around. super competitive and will do whatever the team needs to help win.
i really hope he has success, same with gavin, just because of the type of people they are.

2023 LHP/OF Bennett Fryman, a late target that was committed to Navarro JC in Texas, has committed to Arizona State.

Mlb.com updated their draft list. Didn’t notice anything worth significantly changing other than Grant Taylor falling to the 98th ranked prospect.
It does like like MS State has a pretty good commit list. A lot of guys ranked 60-120ish which is toss up territory.

LHP Jack Sellinger from UNLV is a new portal arm to watch.
Jordan and Tutko on him. Formerly pitched at College of Southern Nevada, where Jay has a connection.
UNLV stats
CSN Stats
Listed as a junior on UNLVs site, but is a 2018 HS grad. I assume he would be a COVID year guy, but he also missed a year in 2021 presumably to injury. Eligibility clocks are a mess right now.

Either side would be crazy to not try this again

Skenes was asked about him in the press conference today and if he would help recruit him. He said he does talk to him often and he is a stud but that at the end of the day he needs to make the decision that is best for him.

I'd be surprised if he doesn't sign with the good guys.

Skenes is such an incredibly mature kid. Even if he wasn’t gonna be a top draft pick that young man has such a bright future
Thanks to all who are updating this thread. Lots of good info

that's very interesting. They also got Alex Lodise today. Two shortstops we had at least showed interest in via twitter. Also saw Faurot is a FSU legacy.

I hadn’t seen the Lodise news. Us, A&M, and Tenn we’re all on him, at least.

Carson Myers==Are you sure we want him? His stats are not very good.

No one in this thread giving names to watch are speculating. We’re telling you who the coaches are contacting.

I'd expect the same from any kid coming from any military institution, assuming they weren't pushing him out. They're going to be leaders, mature, motivated, coachable, you name it. Skenes has probably helped alot of upcoming kids with their decisions on whether to go that route or not. You aren't sealing your fate. Go be great there, maybe just be great there and serve your country, but also might get your number called elsewhere.
Cooper Winchester goes to Air Force next year.

I would think one we look real hard at especially with connections from Skenes is Sawyer Hawks. Pitcher from Air Force
I would be happy to take him. It would be very likely he would be a major arm out of the bullpen and not a starter but I am good with it.

As he should but I would find it very shocking if he didn't at least visit LSU when the season is over before he makes his decision.
