You do realize it is impossible to have a Crews/White combo every year right. Can't expect that even with the transfer portal. The lineup will be ok with or without another big bat. Will just put more pressure on Jay and the players to take a step up with the younger bats.

I think you're underestimating Mac Bingham. He's an absolute dude. I know people will say, "If he's so good, why didn't he get drafted?!" We don't know what those conversations were like between he, Jay, and MLB teams.

We're not going to have a Dylan Crews every year. Montgomery isn't even Dylan Crews. We may never have a Dylan Crews ever again.

Braswell has played and started a lot in his freshman and sophomore seasons in the SEC. His numbers aren't jumping off the page, but they are respectable with the defensive capabilities he has. He will be just fine for us and I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't get better at the plate with Jay and Chief helping him and be a big part of the team at SS or 2B.

It wouldn't shock me if Bingham batted in the one spot he's a great college player. I didn't mean to sound like I was comparing Montgomery to Crews I just wanted one more or another veteran proven bat in the lineup to protect White so other teams aren't pitching around him.
To my knowledge, Montgomery is the only player in the portal who can rake against legit quality pitchers because he's done it.
It would be nice to add another stud hitter to what we already have and the freshmen who are coming in.

I hope we get good news today or by this weekend on RHP Holman.

I find it rather humorous that several people have told you how to use the quote feature and you still choose not to use it.

Gee, I didn't realize I had to quote conform. I guess Chicken will put me in time out. Did I use the bold incorrectly? What a bunch of women on here.

TD has a the best message board layout, but the way you quote makes it look like the other crappy forums.

It is a tad annoying, but if that’s what you’re going for then you do you man

If Bingham batted leadoff, Tanks could bat 2-hole. Hmmm. When have we seen that strategy before?

Is there any word on a decision date for Holman

I know he’s taking visits this week and may go to Auburn tmrw.

Haven’t seen if he’s set a date though

Even if they add Montgomery he wouldn't be in the lineup to protect White. It would likely be the other way around with Montgomery in the 2 hole and White in the 3 hole with Travinski or Jones in the 4 hole. So with or without Montgomery you have the same situation as far as protection for Tommy White.

I think a healthy Travinski protecting White is the best case scenario. Throw around White to get to a guy that can hit it into the next parish.

So even without Montgomery, I see a top 4 lineup that looks like

Bingham
Pearson
White
Travinski

If teams are pitching around Tanks to get to Jared Jones or Travinski I’m pretty happy with our chances of doing damage lol

White doesn't let anybody pitch around him. He walked a whopping 23 times last season. And that's not because of protection behind him. If they want to walk him, they either have to hit him with the ball or throw a wild pitch.

He got much more selective as the season went on. His approach reset during the regional, you can tell he was forcing things and swinging at balls over his head. But then he locked back in and got going in the Kentucky series and stayed that way. If he stays with Jay’s teaching he’ll walk a lot more this year. That’s his next step in progressing I’d say.

I like Bingham but he isn’t the type of guy to be the 1B to the superstar like Johnson has had in Berry/Crews & Crews/White. And I’m not sure he’s going to find that guy this cycle.

That said, maybe Kling or Jones become that. I think they have it in them. Travinski should steadying, and potentially give you part of that guy.

Getting or not getting Montgomery is not make or break for this year's team, I love what we have coming back as well as the freshmen coming in.
Jay will have many good problems to deal with!
