Yes, July 1st is the deadline for player to let their school know they will enter the portal. As far as making a decision and getting to the school they choose or staying where they are I'm not sure they have a hard date. Just have to enroll at the school for the fall semester.

Unlike the bat, which I think can continue its upward trajectory, I don't think the glove is going to make considerable improvement.
I’ve gotta disagree here I think. I know you’re using the term “glove” as a synonym for defense as a whole but Thompson’s actual glove isn’t his problem. He’s got the range to make all of the plays and for the most part he’s pretty smooth.
His arm gets him in trouble and it’s not the arm strength. He’s got an absolute rocket. The problem is He gets in too big of a hurry, throws off balanced more than is needed and sails the ball or bounces it.
That’s purely mental and the easiest thing to correct. He has all of the tools to be an elite SS or at the very least a very good SEC SS. He’s just got to settle down.
I honestly believe his preseason injury had him start the season rusty and his confidence got shattered early in the season.

Mostly arm issues, yes. Mostly mental, yes. But, he had his fair share of shaky glove moments, too. I can vividly recall him whiffing on a few line drives. I'm not here to break it all down - we have 124 games of tape, 410 chances, and he's a .920 fielder.
The whole preseason injury thing could certainly have played into his struggles. It also means Jay didn't get a full look at him.
If he becomes all of these things, great. I have nothing against the kid.

frick! I knew he wasn't coming to LSU but was still kinda hoping. I guess he wanted to stay closer to home.
Hope we can pull Pineda or if Day enters the portal either of those guys is a good get!

Whiffing on Ahuna and Keaschall not a great start. I'm still keeping my hopes up for a very productive portal.

In Pineda and denton we trust

Who knows how hard we really pursued Keaschall though. We made early contact, but that may have been it.

Anyone know why Denton’s leaving Bama?
I guess Pineda’s bc of the coaching change?

Seems like we are striking out on transfers and losing coaches.

Micah Bucknam could be a very productive arm here. It doesn't look like he'll burn up the radar gun but his 90ish fastball cuts and he can throw a 2 seamer in the upper 80s that runs a foot+ to tie righties up that are cheating. Comp would be Dutton but with more movement.
Bronzini is a big, funky lefty. Looks like a guy that will be around 90 with the fastball and a sweeping breaking ball and change. Comp would be Riley Cooper but Bronzini is a tighter build with a funkier delivery.
Both seem to have room for more velo.
Just thought I'd mention a few lesser discussed arms in the class.
