Carter young? Would be good depth to have. He also has a large strikeout problem

Yes, K’s are high. About the same as Digiacomo or Josh Stevenson or other guys that LSU fans have championed for.
shite, at least he has some pop & plays a premium position.
If he can play any type of defense, sign me up. You can bat him in the bottom half of the order & roll him out at SS everyday

Exactly, good depth to have. And if he finds his sophomore season stufd, he is easily a starter.
Just gotta hope JJ can unlock it. Its good competition for thompson/simon/guidry at short

The super early statement about Thatcher Hurd and showing him as a commit on their site prematurely. And talking up LSUs chances at Maui Ahuna while Ahuna was on campus visiting Tennessee. It’s stuff that riles up the fan base and can generate negativity toward the coach if it doesn’t work out. And specifically in the Ahuna situation, there wasn’t really much reason to think we were getting him. I realize it comes across as conspiracy theory type shite, but I know he’s lied about and spread false rumors about coaches (not ours) in the past so I take everything he says with a grain of salt.
Kendall has a username on this site mostly from the job search way back when.
Maybe we can invite him over to this thread and buy him some boilermakers and bury the hatchet.

I dunno what he has posted on the d1 premium stuff about lsu, but from the outside, i feel like he is pretty fair. Id assume the hurd thing was an honest mistake. I listen to the d1 pod all the time and never hear him say anything bad about lsu

Other than Kendall’s tweet and the portal mixup, is there anything to suggest there’s mutual interest between LSU & Hurd?

All I saw was the tweet.

JK and Tutko follows Thatcher and I just noticed that Thatcher follows Jason Kelly back don’t know if that’s a new follow but it looks like the only coach that he follows back

The most action I noticed from twitter with portal players is Janzen Keisel following JK, Jay, and Tutko. Also, Pineda follows Tutko and Jay, but I also noticed that Schloss was on the list of his followers.

Is Jay going to be looking for a catcher in the portal? My cousin just graduated, was a 4 year player for Miami (Ohio), a first team (2019) and second team (2021) all conference player, and now hitting the portal. He’s solid behind the plate and has some pop to his bat as well. He has 1 year of eligibility left, and has been reached out by a few SEC teams including 1 heading to Omaha. Being that his family are all from Louisiana, he’s a HUGE LSU fan, and would be a dream landing spot. LSU is the one school that hasn’t reached out. How do we make this happen?

Not sure thats on us, he should probably get in touch with the lsu staff via email or phone. Im sure tutko or kelly or fitz have their contact info out there.

Well, I know he’s reached out, but unfortunately hasn’t heard back from anyone.

Welp, i guess that kinda tells the story then, unfortunately

Project can correct me if I'm wrong but I haven't heard of LSU pursuing any Catcher in the portal.
If they get Neal I don't think they need one but that's a big if.

Only a part of the story, my friend

I’m curious also. I don’t keep up with baseball recruiting as well as y’all. Not sure who we have coming in as freshman (that will actually make it to campus).

I have not seen us pursuing any.

A little weird IMO. Catcher was just a sore point all season long with defense (Travinski/McManus) and once again offense (Milazzo). Yeah we could get a really talented freshman on campus but it's really rare and really difficult for a freshman to take that kind of position job right away in year 1.
McManus (and Priester) is gone leaving us with Milazzo/Travinski and maybe Bianco emergency option + any freshmen making it in.
Transfer catcher, assuming the right one pops up, would make a lot of sense to me unless they are scared it would drive Milazzo off (McManus this past year didnt at least).
As far as the Miami Ohio guy (Cole Andrews), really solid offensive numbers - .291/.369/.537, but also had 11 passed balls and only threw out 9 of 44 (20%) so defense seems suspect, which is exactly the situation we got in with McManus and Travinski.
Guess it truly is difficult to find a solid offensive catcher who is solid defensively as well.
