Gasp........but the rant applauded his work with this talentless staff.

Kelly did a great job with what he was given. I would love to keep him around but there are a lot of other guys out there who can do a great job too.

A whole lot easier finding an elite pitching coach than it is to find an elite hitting coach.

Burning some tape of the lesser known guys. Really like DJ Primeaux, LHP out of Central.

Friend of mine worked where he trained, said he had to throw for Johnson once he took the job, must have impressed. Said he could see him being a good lefty out of the pen. Both the LHP out of Central are sub 6ft but appear to have a bulldog mentality.

I appreciate you and Lester bringing a little more insight on him. When Johnson announced his class, Primeaux and Frey were not included. There isn't anything on their bios either. Project and a few others have given some insight on those two as well.

I kind have been looking at Primeaux and Frey as "camp bodies" to use a football term. Of course, I thought the same about Dutton. That would be great if they are indeed contributors. This class is exciting. Draft can't come quick enough. I get as excited about the draft as I do going to Omaha.

They only weren't included originally due to signing ceremonies that were happening later.

Frey has potential to be more than a camp body if he can adjust to high level college pitching. Dude is large, but a straight up athlete.

Frey is a monster, physically. I think the only question is how will he adapt to high level pitching. I mean, that’s kind of always the question.

But I don’t think there is such a thing as camp body. You come in & compete & see where the chips fall.

6'6, 225. QB, pitcher, catcher. Just an all around dude. He's somewhat raw but I don't look at him as a camp body at all.

ETA: The swing is Travinski-ish, but he's 10 times the athlete that Travinski is.

He seems bigger than Jones. And Jones had an OL offer from GaTech while Frey was getting QB offers.

That’s incredible.

Funny to see some MSB posters discrediting Rosepine bc they’re 2A. Then you see dudes like Frey.

Definitely seems bigger than Jones. Jones is a good athlete, too, probably a more pure/balanced hitter than a Frey/Travinski.

He’s a 6.86 runner too. And is 89-92 on the mound. Sometimes we get too caught up in the draft risks and these guys kind of fly under the radar

I think he’s athletic enough to play RF if he can get enough reps there. Of course I’m hesitant to even talk position switches after the defense we saw this year. Might just have to keep it basic

Exactly my thought and supposedly has a cannon. He can be our college Aaron Judge. This class is so deep. We don’t talk about Zeb Ruddell much either but his bat can play…already registering 100 mph + exit velos with above MLB average swing speeds with a 6.69 60 time.

frey is a monster and so was that Rosepine team. They have almost half a dozen college commits. They are getting the Deridder and surrounding area kids, they move to the district early and the rosepine coach does a really good job with them.

they also have that new data driven analytics place in leesville that is sponsoring the summer teams up there and a lot of the kids are training there, tracking metrics with hittrax and then doing what they have to do to improve those metrics.

If by some miracle we only lose the top 5 or 6, that would be spectacular.

Romero and Shores are pretty much the only 2 signees that they are in the ball park of MLB.com on. They are significantly lower on just about everyone else. I’ve seen Crawford as high as 9 in mock drafts and they think he’s barely a top 30 guy.
