Can someone do the updated math for noot?
Plagiarizing thunderbird1100 a little, but:
Brewers have $7,070,900 total bonus pool for the top 10 rounds. So far they have signed:
1st rounder - $2.05M (slot $2.7M) = Saved $650k
2nd rounder - $2.35M (slot $1.13M) = Over by $1.22M
CB-B rounder - $800k (slot $915k) = Saved $115k
3rd rounder - $598k (slot 601k) = Saved $3k
4th rounder - $348k (slot $449k) = Saved $101k
6th rounder - $100k (slot $260k) = Saved $160k
7th rounder - $97k (slot $204k) = Saved $107k
8th rounder - $168k (slot $171k) = Saved $3k
9th rounder - $158k (slot of $158k) = $0
10th rounder - $100k (slot $150k) = Saved $50k
So right now they have spent $6.77M of their bonus money leaving them with *roughly* $305k left.
They still are trying to sign their 5th rounder, which has a slot of $335k
That's $335k left of slot value with $305k in bonus pool money. The pick is a college 4th year, so not much leverage. Even if he signs for just $100k, the Brewers would have just $205k to spend on top of the $125k you can pay a 19th round guy. Remember they can also go 5% over their bonus allotment, which would bring in another $350k. So if they sign the 5th round pick for even just $100k, the most they could give Noot is about $680k.
Also worth noting that MLB.com is not showing the 4th round signing as finalized. Thunderbird1100 shows the number as $348k, but I cannot confirm that anywhere yet. Remember all these numbers are approximations.
If Noot is willing to go pro for $680k, gotta shrug your shoulders - he never wanted to come to school. That feels unlikely.

Skenes is ranked as the 2nd best prospect for the 2023 MLB draft (according to Baseball America).
Could be an oversight on his part, but Skenes is not listed at all in Kiley McDaniel's top 50 prospects for the 2023 draft or what looks to be about 100 other players of note (Grant Taylor is included in that list). Seems surprising.

I think we're safe on Noot. He'll be a Tiger. I'm sure he and they thought they could get close (and they made a run at it for awhile) but Miz gutted them.
ETA: I still have my eyes on Baltimore, and have started to pay attention to Kansas City.

Thanks for doing the work. That senior could sign for 15k for all we know. Him signing for 125k would make me feel better

The 4 Year on MLB just means 4 year university. He is listed there as a junior, but his school has him listed as a 2023 Sophomore (with the covid year). So he has 2 years of leverage remaining...better for getting Noot to campus.
ETA: the above is in reference to the Brewer's 5th round pick and only remaining unknown bonus in the top 10 rounds at this time - assuming that blog is correct on th 4th and 9th round bonuses.

Kendall has him at 25 in his most recent Top 30.

If all the numbers in the link on the Noot thread on the rant are correct, the Brewers will have $635,935 available to throw at Noot.
That would mean they don't go after any other pick in rounds 11-20 that would require more than $125K to sign.

I recall reading that their 12th round pic Adams is a HS stud and likely to sign overslot. In case I missed that he already signed, that kid may seal the deal for Noot.

I just don't see them having anything too appealing left for the HS kids. It'll just come down to whether they want to start their pro journey or not.

25th college prospect?

I have a question, does anybody know what Skenes stuff looks like? 3 pitch mix? Velocity on his FB etc.
Posted on 7/29/22 at 11:53 am to raisinbran
But their 12th and 13th round picks are HS kids too. Presumably expect to have to offer them more too to realistically sign them right?

Fastball sits 93-95 and touches 96. Also has a nasty mid 80's slider.
Posted on 7/29/22 at 11:56 am to TigerMonkey7
Mid 90s fastball that can get up to 96. Slider is a good one. Probably needs to work on a 3rd pitch.

Or catches Friday night, DH Saturday, and pitches Sunday.
Does the pitcher/DH rule apply in college? Meaning you can start at both pitcher and DH and remain in the game as DH when you get pulled out of the game? I think it used to be (and maybe still is) that the only way a pitcher gets to stay in the game to bat after being pulled is if he moves to another position in the field.

Yes. You can start at P/DH and stay DH after pitching.

The thought of Skenes pitching to Milazzo and getting to DH for him is marvelous.
