no way. Skip and Ron in the heat of a six-team regional weren't thinking about anything but winning the game before them. They may have fancied an opponent's best player, but what you are in essence saying is that, guys like Skip Bertman and Ron Polk were deciding to take some time off gameplanning for the next day's slate of games to recruit an opposing team's player. How did that work? Did they go knock on the young man's hotel room door and pitch him on their programs while standing in the hallway? Were they whispering to the player while his coach was sleeping three doors down? Let's say you are right and it happened. The coaches of power programs would be getting a contributor who would be sitting out a full year. If Skip or Ron wants to see what the kid can do for LSU ore MSST in a regional or Omaha, the answer to that question will only come 24 months from this exact day that our coach first lays his eyes on the then enemy player. The mechanics of pulling a stunt like this is messy. Then there's this little thing called reputation. You may be dismissive of a host coach using its regional to poach players off teams in town for the weekend, but I think you will find that most are not willing to go to such lengths. Baseball powerhouses were built with high school recruiting. There was little interest in shenanigans like this over one or two transfers. Now if I bring Directional Mid-Major U. to a Tony Vitello hosted regional, then DRock I'm hiding my best from that snake.

You did not have to sit out a year as a baseball transfer as recently as 2001. Not sure when the rule for baseball changed.

Woah, buddy. You said putting out feelers. That's been going on forever. That's a fact, jack.

The portal is the easiest thing for the average fan to discuss because the player pool has the most available information.
It's definitely driven the discussion for the last few weeks. I had already said the apathy that set in from the last staff had limited discussion here. This thread is longer than the last two combined and they covered a total of 5 years.
But the portal stepped on the gas pedal. Without the portal every conversation would just turn into people giving thoughts on a particular player and them someone who doesn't know anything coming in and saying "they'll never make it to campus."
Yeah, that last part of what you said was the main thing to me. Unlike other sports, you are constantly wondering who is actually going to make it to campus, whether they commit or not, and there was always negativity about that. But some of it was justified, due to that staff constantly focusing on guys that they had almost no chance of getting to campus, and then not having a backup plan in place. You start to become very pessimistic after years of that.
This staff is both aggressive and thorough, and the portal just drives everything into a frenzy.

Kale Davis to Oklahoma. Not sure how heavily we pursued, but we made early contact.

There used to be no rule about sitting out after transferring. Todd Linden came to LSU from Washington straight away.

I'd be interested to see CJJ list of replacements for Fitz as RC.

I'm almost 100% certain we recruited (old staff) him when ND fired Mik Aoki, but he stayed committed.
Johnson is now following him on Twitter.

You would think he is going to FSU and following his coach.

Given your post history, it's easy to figure out who you're referencing.
I went through his post history and only found out about peptides, healthy eating habits, and not to wear cargo shorts.

I don't believe we are getting Waldrep. I'm pretty confident he's going to Florida.

If so, I say we make up for this past year and go undefeated!
