PG National is underway, notes on some of the 2022 commitments:

quote:
Jared Jones (2022 C, Marietta, GA) just missed a few balls at the dish but still had some well-struck fly balls to the deeper part of the park. He's got incredible strength along with big carry off the bat and registered a 2.05 second pop time on a caught stealing as well.
quote:
Gavin Guidry (2022 SS, Lake Charles, LA) hit a well-struck ball foul before unloading on what would eventually be an inside-the-park-HR. Guidry knocked one off the wall in left field and showed the speed and explosiveness to go wire to wire and score a run; he later added a laced single.
quote:
Mikey Romero (2022 SS, Menifee, CA): Romero, who has hit all summer, smoked a double up the pull-side gap in his first at-bat, showing off the same clean path and above-average bat speed along with innate barrel accuracy that we've seen from him all summer. He drove a ball to the wall in his 2nd at-bat that ended up a flyout by an excellent play by the LF.
quote:
Michael Kennedy (2022 LHP, Troy, NY): Kennedy has a live left arm, working up to 92 mph with crossfired angle and good life, showing feel for a power slider and changeup, throwing all 3 for strikes and missing a ton of bats up in the zone with his fastball.

What's the story on this catcher from Live Oak? Sorry, I can't remember his name. Moscona was talking about him a few days ago and said he committed to a JC and didn't get drafted. He didn't make any promises, but he speculated LSU could be a possibility? He also said one scout told him he was the top prospect in the state this year, ahead of Stovall.

Heard he doesn’t have the grades/test scores to get into D1….that’s why he’s committed to a JUCO. Was really counting on the draft. Watched him play summer ball for three years. Kid is strong, has an arm and has improved each year. He can play.

Thanks for the update.

Blaise Priester. Any way we can fix his grades to get him in?

Millas has now taken references to LSU off his Twitter. He hasn't announced a transfer destination, to my knowledge, but his twitter now says Country Roads Baseball, so maybe West Virginia?
Or Colorado.

Grades aren't the issue

That’s too bad, I really wanted to see what kind of buzz he would generate this week. I think he’s the best player on any of the lists on the first page.

According to Sconeman, Priester is/was on campus today.

It's hard to understand why he wasn't drafted unless he said he wants to go to college. And it's equally difficult to understand that if he wants to go to college, he would go to a community college when he is clearly a high D1 prospect.
Unless he has that as his fall back so that he can just re-enter the draft next year. In which case, I don't know why he would be visiting LSU. Unless he's having a change of heart.
So many possibilities there. He'd be the most athletic catcher I can ever remember at LSU, if he comes here.

Threw out 12 of 22 base stealers. Hit .426 with 10 HR's. 175 ranked draft prospect.

And had 6 triples and batted leadoff. The dude can hit, hit for power, throw AND run.
Sure would love to see him here.

You are overthinking him not getting drafted. He obviously had a number and teams didn’t meet it. Instead of settled, he decided to try again next year. It seems like LSU is the only other school he would consider, but it’s pretty obvious his hope was to get what he was looking for and go pro

He received really awful advice if that’s all there was to it.

I'm not overthinking anything. I'm saying I don't know why he wasn't drafted. Everyone has a number. I don't get why he wasn't worth that number to anyone. He seems to be criminally underrated, is the point.
And he's committed to a community college. That suggests he might want to go there so that he isn't committed to 3 years of college. So I don't know why he would consider LSU. Obviously, I'm hoping he has changed his mind on the community college route, but presently we have nothing but speculation to say that is the case.

That's what it is with Priester it seems. He had a number that teams just didn't want to meet. Nothing wrong with that, kid is buying in on himself and sees his worth, you got go for it.. Going the community college route gets his name in the draft next year.
I like that he's at least visiting and giving Johnson a chance. I know it's three years, but if you have a chance at early playing time at an SEC school, a perennial powerhouse (normally), putting up numbers there is a lot better than one year at a community college

Maybe it's for the better for us in the long run. The less exposure, the better
