Ma we have 7 LHP commitments between 2022 and 2023 classes. Crazy.

If anyone is interested, you can stream Northwoods League games for free via their site. Merrifield is playing now with the Battle Creek Bombers. Be prepared for lagging issues with the broadcast though.

Looks like 19 Arizona players are now in the portal, including freshman LHP Riley Cooper who apparently was a key bullpen piece down the stretch.

I'm just hoping we start seeing movement on something soon. Especially the assistant coaching front. But also on the transfers. We need arms. I would guess the biggest hold up to getting any portal arms right now is the lack of a pitching coach.

You have to think the assistants will be announced in the next few days. Transfer news may not happen until the week of the draft and they have an idea of what the impact to the current roster and the signing class will be.

I don't understand the holdup on assistants. It worries me that we are having trouble finding someone. Maybe Johnson has his sights set on Foxhall and that's what the delay is.

We will know the assistants by early next week at the latest

Anything leaking out on that front?

No but the interviews are done. They are just trying to get the deals done.

Do we think Bollman could factor into a weekend starter role?

I think anyone that has thrown more than 3 innings in an outing should be given a shot. He’s got three juco seasons (plus summers and falls) of starting experience. I think he could either be a Sunday guy or a multi inning reliever.
Dawson Gause also has a lot of starting experience, but he did it against a higher level of competition in Florida JUCO.

A name to look out for at catcher from the transfer portal is Samford’s Tyler McManus. He Hit 346 this year with 11 homers. He’s from Slidell and heard he is visiting coach JJ this week.

Yes please. He strikes out a good bit, but thats still a nice OPS. Worth a shot

He hit 11-30 (.366) vs SEC teams this season
3 HR (2 v Aub, 1 vs FL)
1 2B
6 RBI
Slidell by way of Delgado

He hit 9 HRs his soph year at Delgado. Not a great average that season, but just from eyeballing the game stats, he seemed to do better against the better programs they played.

Correct and hit 429 during the covid season for Samford.

Trey Shaffer from Southeastern is another portal name to watch.

What’s the best account for transfer announcements on Twitter

I literally just look to see who the new people Jay Johnson starts following and then check the portal on D1baseball.
