I was looking at Arizona recruiting. The kids they have committed for this class are all West Coast. I don't expect any flips, but the Romero kid was a nice surprise. As Josh just mentioned he has some players on his current roster like Susac that have MLB potential. Perhaps they could be enticed to improve their draft status against SEC competition.

I did pick up on the fact that he is heavily involved in recruiting and expect his whole staff to recruit. That alone gets me excited.

I'm waiting to see who he hires as his assistants. I big time pitching coach and a local recruiting coordinator could pay benefits this year, especially with JUCOs.

Pretty sure his sisters played against each other in the WCWS and were both superstars. He doesn’t seem to have the off the chart athleticism or power you would typically see in an extremely early HS MIF pick. So maybe college isn’t out of the question for him.

If we're shopping for their players/commits, let's go after Noah Turley from Yavapai: LINK

Or Damiano Palmegiani from CSN. Kris Bow was a highly rated JUCO pitcher from CSN committed to Arizona, but he didn't have a strong year.

Between College of Southern Nevada and a few of the Arizona JUCOs, Johnson has some good contacts that could help down the road. You can get those guys to the SEC.

It gives me some hope that he decommitted and committed to LSU so quickly. If college isn't even in the picture, why bother? I'm hoping this means he's at least considering going to school.

Project do you remember how Johnson got Chase Davis to attend school last year? He was a top 25 overall recruit along with Dylan Crews.

I don't know any specific stories behind it, no.

He didn't have a good year per say but he's an extremely talented corner outfielder.

Johnson's freshmen class this year resembled LSU's in a way.

ESPN’s David Dellucci on Full Ride hinted that a couple of Arizona’s top players could very well transfer with Johnson to LSU. Dellucci did not identify those players by name. However, he did speak very highly of Johnson and believes that LSU made an excellent hire.

Not any time soon. We had kind of hit a standstill on the 2022 and 2023 classes. We're still at like 53/40 for next year going into the draft. That includes the COVID eligibles as well. I don't think numbers are really a problem right now.

A lot of these kids were teammates during the 15U USA team trials few years ago. The band is getting back together.

I believe he's going to bring a few of his current players in next year, though. That would tighten things up, especially if a few fringe guys of our own decide to stay in school another year.

I still don't know if the COVID year guys (like Hilliard) would count against the 40. They origina,ly weren't but I don't think that's been officially decided yet.

Damn. We've gotten two stud shortstop recruits and possibly Carl Crawford's son just by hiring Johnson? I like it.
