Yeah, at this point there is no place on the field I'd be comfortable putting Coomes, even with the fact he does have the arm for third base (doesn't do you much good if he can't get it out of the glove without dropping it). That was a complete shitshow last night.
We're going to have a pretty massive battle for third base between a whole bunch of kids who haven't shown any particular ability to field the ball worth a damn. Either one of them figures it out, or we'll be down to two options - one, throw our hands up and put Reid there and in the 9-hole, or two, start Slaughter at third and give Broussard the second base job (and the 9-hole, hoping he can be a 2nd leadoff man).
At this late date I'm going to doubt there's another hotshot infielder available we can stick at third base. It's going to be the one big question mark on the team for next year.

With the late addition of Broussard this is what im starting to think about.
Still wonder where guys like Woley and Templet fit. I think they both have some talent.

True but I don't remember Chad Jones hitting all that much plus he only pitched in relief I was meaning more of starting pitching then starting 1st base when not pitching....Im not sure if Storz can be that but people seem pretty high on him on both aspects of the game.

Reid isn't a terrible option, his only knock is his non existent power. If Storz can be a power hitter and guys like Smith, Slaughter, and Watson can take the next step power wise, Reid can play third.

Woley and Templet are in the mix at first base, and one of them might play there on days Storz pitches if Mainieri lets that happen.
And I'm guessing he does a lefty-righty thing at DH next year. You'll have Templet and Webre from the left side and Beau and Bryce Jordan, plus Coomes, plus Woley, plus maybe Doolittle, on the right. Lots of options.
Bryce Jordan would do himself some good learning how to be a decent third baseman. He could solve some problems if he could play there.

Well, it's college. They're there to learn and improve and develop, after all.
Deichmann went 0-for-8 for the season his freshman year.
Like I said, we have a whole bunch of kids to look at over there, and none of them have proven they'll be any good at third. Maybe one of them will figure out how not to suck.

I was referring to the knee injury. He was playing third in the scrimmage when he hurt himself.

do you have a updated 2017 recruiting class? I'm sure we gained and loss a few over this time since last year and since the MLB drafter just ended..

Perfect Game had an interesting review on Daniel Cabrera.
They rated him a Perfect 10.
But also had this line ..."fields the ball cleanly out front, left field arm strength,
makes soft accurate throws."
Would not that mean he plays left field instead of right?

Watson claims to throw 94 off the mound. He might not throw 94 from the outfield but he doesn't have a rag arm. Duplantis doesnt either

Cabrera hit his first home run of the summer last night. He's batting .339 and has struck out 3 times in 76 PAs.
