Louisiana Legislature Passes NIL Law, Goes to Gov. Edwards to sign

If the Governor signs this into law, it will take place immediately and allow LSU to compete with the rest of the SEC, at least as far as collectives go. Getting the money is another story, but this legislation at least takes off the handcuffs that we are currently having to work around,

We will find the money, and damn straight JBE will try to find a way to get something out of the deal! That’s all he knows is under the table money, he thought it was already legal. He uses these deals in HIS politics everyday.

He's going to sign this bill into law just like he did the one last year.

I'm writing my legislators and asking them to pass a 1/10th of a cent sales tax that goes straight to TAF and NIL deals just to make the fans of other schools that live here contribute to LSU NIL

It's not so much that we are behind, its that we've been forced to play with one hand tied behind our backs. This legislation removes our fetters.

No he's a realist. If you think lsu donors and alumni have deeper pockets than atm you are the ignorant one. Until this nil stuff gets more guidance and structure to it atm will continue to outbid most other universities for players.

Why? Do you have any logical basis for that statement? He already signed one NIL bill last year why wouldn't he sign this one?

He will not veto and if for whatever reason he doesn’t sign it will go into law after 10 days, which would be the 13th

It renders NIL laws in Louisiana the same as NIL laws in Texas, Alabama, Florida, etc, by allowing Louisiana schools, employees, and boosters to directly pay players.
The problem of course is that even though the legal playing field is now even, LSU still doesn't have the money to compete for top classes.
Texas A&M, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Ohio State, USC, etc, will continue to have an advantage because they simply have money that LSU doesn't.
