Louisiana HS QB’s over the last 22 years that had LSU/Big time offers…

I have a lot of time on my hands this week and have been doing a lot of random sports research. Shea’s article on LSU’s current QB big board with (#1) Manning, (#8) Holstein and (#15) Collins got me thinking about when Louisiana produced this much QB talent in the same class. Much less TWO of them being from Baton Rouge (we’re calling Zachary B.R.).
Brock Berlin, Brent Rawls, John David Booty, Lester Ricard, Robert Lane, Ryan Perilloux, Jordan Jefferson, Brandon Harris, Kaetyon Thompson, Lowell Narcisse, Justin Rodgers, and Walker Howard.
Those are the quarterbacks (not counting Shea Patterson bc that’s a joke) that Louisiana has produced since the year 2000 that were ranked in the top 15 nationally at their position. TWELVE in TWENTY-TWO years… And none were in the same class besides Thompson & Narcisse. 5 went to LSU, and Howard makes 6. Of those only Lester Ricard was from the BR area (Denham Springs).
The 2023 class in Louisiana has THREE top 15 QBs with not one, but TWO being from Baton Rouge and the other being the #1 overall in the country in NOLA. The chances of this happening given history is ridiculous. And what’s funnier is NONE of them are really even considering LSU, with the primary reason being the depth chart
The fact LSU’s QB ROOM is so set that the year BR & NOLA combine to produce THREE top 15 QB’s in the same class that we’re all pretty much “yeah ok whatever” about it is gold. Anyway, my names Sampson and thanks for letting me share.

Eh…you could probably count Arch like Shea Patterson,
Shea was born in Ohio, moved to Texas, moved to Louisiana and played 3 years, then moved to Florida.
Arch was born and bred in Louisiana, he's never played or lived anywhere else.
What state you count Peyton and Eli towards?
As for the OP- yeah we don't produce a ton of talent. I think one guy your missing that Les offered as a TE is Dak Prescott. Probably the best QB Louisiana has produced since Eli.

Arch is a 2nd generation La. born kid

And at this point, not 1 of the 3 QBs in 2023 is projected to sign with LSU.

What's crazy is that doesn't even bother me. None of those 3 look like program changing type guys.
MAYBE Holstein? But we all know he's not sitting behind Howard again.

I agree about Dak, but EVERY recruiting service and high school talent evaluator missed on Prescott. According to Rivals, he was a 3-star QB, ranked 33rd in the State, and was not ranked Nationally by position or overall.
Here are the schools that offered Dak: Ms State, LSU, LA Tech, ULL, Memphis, McNeese, NW State, North TX, and TCU. Prescott was very raw and MSU was the perfect fit due to Dan Mullen's coaching style, play calling, and QB mentoring. IMO, had Dak signed with LSU, his talent would have been wasted on the sidelines (Russell Shepard) and he would not be where he is today - starting QB for the Dallas Cowboys. Crazy how Mullen had MSU ranked the #1 team in the country for 4 weeks during the 2014 season. .

That's a stretch for Holstein since he literally moved to Zachary from Lafayette to play there (Big brother played at STM). Little brother was at LCA for middle school.
But I get what you're saying. Even if it was 3 from Laf/BR/NOLA that is still something.
One fact remains, though, Arch was never going to LSU if the elder Mannings had any influence whatsoever.

But why shouldn't we be? Holstein is not sitting behind Howard again, anyone who's watched Arch can see that he's not what his rating says he is, and Collins is committed to Purdue with no real big time offers besides LSU, and that was from the old staff.
It's not like there's three 5 star quarterbacks from LA that we're just not putting any effort into at all and are going to lose them because where we are as a program.
If anything, we've recruited well enough at quarterback over the last few years to not need them. Now of course I would like a quarterback in this class, but the three LA guys, outside of maybe Holstein, are not guys I would make other prospects wait on.
ETA: misread the point of your post lol. Our quarterback room is pretty set. I would go all out for Moore.

After this year we will have 2 QBs and worst case scenario is Nussmeier deciding to leave if he doesn't make the cut within the next 12 months. Who else is on the radar, Dante Moore? That's wishful thinking.

I wonder what how much of an influence 7 on 7 summer league has played in the increase of QB talent recently. It's got to be a major factor.

7 on 7 is huge, but Louisiana high school football has adapted too. It's not always for the best, but with these QB's you can spread it out and sling it.
Some schools need to be running the ball with an athletic QB. The kids would come to LSU and just not really know much about football. Thankfully as the game evolved our skill guys have really benefited.

If you go back to 1969, Louisiana had both Bert Jones (LSU) and Joe Ferguson (Arkansas). Both were very good in college and in the pros.

If you look at Eli's sparq scores, he is beyond amazing. Not sure any high school QB has ever rated like he has done. He may be the best QB in the nation in a lot of people's minds. But, any of these 3 or Dante would make me very happy...
