If we strike out on Nakobe Dean, the loss of Harris and Constantine are magnified because Dean or Starks can play OLB or ILB and McCallum is not able and cannot equal the talent level of Dean, Harris, or Constantine from a speed aspect and can only play ILB. You can't sign one of the three (Constantine, Harris, or Tongue), not in your own back yard (State of LA), but out of the bed you sleep in every night (in BR, ON YOUR OWN CAMPUS)! All 4 stars and very highly ranked (top 10 at their respective positions). This is a recruiting fiasco! Those that don't see this trend at U high and Louisiana as a whole as a huge problem are fools considering the trends in Louisiana/LSU recruiting the last 16 years and this is why we are not competing with Alabama on their talent level. And, then there are the idiots and fools that post on this board with their comments and "expert" analysis (sarcasm) when speaking of Constantine, Harris, and Tongue; they say "We don't want them" or "their not good enough", or "We don't need them". Only one of the three has an offer from LSU...what the hell is up with that? There is a problem with two of the three not having offers and it does not lay with the recruits, it is with the staff. What does an offer cost? Nothing!!! Kids may change their mind...recruiting one player now lasts 1.5 to two years or longer. If you make the offer the door is always open if things change in a kids life. If you don't make the offer, the door is closed and says "keep out"...This is bad, bad, bad. You can't reverse the trend and put a fence around LA with this strategy. Sorry Ed O and Aranda, but this is not the way to keep LA talent at home with kids ranked in the top 20 of their respective positions, 4 stars or better and at positions of need. All three play at positions of need in 2018, 2019 and 2020 respective LA classes compared to who we recruited, are currently recruiting, and will recruit from LA. As far as Aranda not wanting Constantine or Tongue, I don't believe it. And, if it is true, Clemson and Georgia disagree and I trust their talent evaluations too and they have proven better "overall team" results in wins than LSU has over the same period of time. RESULTS MATTER in Ws or Ls. We have never heard the "Why" in "why doesn't Aranda want them" when it is obvious they play at a position of need in LSU's current class. The chirping crickets with no answer to the question of "why" Aranda does not want them is the reason I wave the BS flag...Aranda want's them, but LSU hasn't made the offer...when this happens in recruiting, in my experience, the respective home team has no chance because of a prejudice against the home team/preconceived bias in the recruit's mind against the home team or the home team did something to screw up the chance of landing the kid. That may be the kid's fault in the first instance, but that is the school's problem and job to come up with a strategy to overcome the objections. The kid maybe set on going out of state. Thus, the home teams has to show the kid why staying home is the better option. Go hard at them like Emory and Sopsher. In the second instance, if you screw up the recruiting of a kid, then you do what it takes to fix it. I don't buy that Aranda likes McCallum better than Harris...What I do buy is that it's easier to recruit McCallum than it is to spend time and resources on Harris. I call it lazy and not taking a chance on being able to land Harris. It's called cutting your losses in time and resources and ending up with a lesser talented player. Finally, they aren't just being recruited by teams perennially out of the top 25. They aren't just being recruited by teams in the top 6 to 25 teams. NO, NO, NO...they are verbally committed to and recruited by & to teams in the top 5 for the last several years!!! Just let that sink in!!! Clemson, Alabama, and Georgia... Ed Orgeron and Dave Aranda...you "OWN" these three recruiting FAILs ON YOUR OWN DAMNED, F-ING CAMPUS!!!

I think the issue is going to be distribution by position. At this point there seems to be 12 no doubt SEC quality players in the state, but 5 are wide receivers.

I'll bet we are top 10 and fill needs next year as well. We only need tackles on the OL next year. Would like to get 2 and 2 but not a priority. Safety and LB still have depth but we'll be signing a couple of guys next year. DL is priority along with WR, OT, QB, RB, TE and OLB. Just about every position will create depth and so it's crucial we load up with Quality players and if we do it will close the gap between us and Bama.

University high has nothing to do with nothing. If LSU wanted those players they would go after them, period.

Like Georgia, Bama, and Clemson ?
All have gone back and forth between pro style and DT in recent years but keep similar offensive philosophy

Style doesnt matter as much as quality does. We need to sign the best overall QBs we can get. The more a qb can do (well) though, the better

I've heard Raymond wants Boutte at corner, so we'll see how that develops

Other than DL it's a really shallow year instate. There's talent, but not a lot of quantity. I think LSU hits out-of-state really hard. They had a commitment from McKinnley Jackson, DT out of Mississippi, but he since decommitted. IDK what it is with these Mississippi kids committing to LSU then backing out. Maybe State or Ole is doing some negative recruiting tactics once these kids get back home, IDK, but Mckinnley is a very good one. Guillory is a monster, very athletic and very powerful. But, yea, looks like a down year for quantity in state.
