19 is kind of at a stopping point until ESD and it was a banner year instate. Hows 2020 looking for those that know?

QB
TJ Finley-commit
Caleb Holstein
Since we have 2 committed id assume Holstein is out. Sites seem to really like Finley but our own dont seem to. Whats missing?
RB
Ashaad Clayton
Kyle Edwards
Seems we are gonna go balls out for Evans and i agree with that choice but id guess we will still take Clayton. I would. Is Edwards a guy we would take if needed or is there another instate kid out there?
WR
Kayshon Boutte-commit
Trenton Grow
Koy Moore-USC commit
Jahki Douglas
Reginald Jones
Jalen Cook
Jacobi Bellazin
Boutte is in along with a couple OOS kids. How many do we take, can we keep Turner and do we want to keep Draine? Dont know much about the other instate kids so whos the guys we would be looking hard at?
TE
Dustin Dyson
Staff seemed to like Dyson a lot during camp. Is he still a guy we will pursue?
OL
Sedrick Van Pran
How good is this kid? Rivals likes him a good bit. Seems very light instate on the OL. Any sleepers out there?
DE
Brandon Williams
Angelo Anderson
Have heard some speak well of Williams, who is likely a LB in our defense. Sites seem to like him as well. Know very little of Anderson. How good is he and are there any kids unknown out there?
DT
Jacobian Guillory
Jacqulin Roy-commit
Camron Jackson
Kenean Caldwell
Patrick Jenkins
Guillory and Roy are sure takes. Jackson is a guy many were high on last year but seems to have fallen back a bit. Is he good enough or is an OL? Some on here spoke well of Caldwell after seeing Oak Grove in the dome. Know nothing of Jenkins.
LB
Kellen Burrle-UTSA commit
Taiwan Berryhill
Know very little about either. Burrle reports an offer but ive heard nothing regarding it. Is there a sleeper out there?
CB
Daran Branch
Suprisingly light at CB at this point. Are any if the athlete/wr types possible CBs or any under the radar kids out there?
S
Joel Williams
Khi Mathieu
Jadarius "Bud" Clark
Eric Reed
Major Burns
Williams and Clark have offers and seem like takes. Reed is highly regarded but has been mentioned little, if any by anyone i follow. The Burns kid has a little buzz though from low level major programs.

Seems very down instate and that never bodes well for us. We cannit make a living taking 75% of the class oos.
Any comments regarding kids we are high on instate are more than welcome.

I wouldn't say it's a down year. It seems pretty typical, actually. I think LSU will probably take 10-12 Louisiana guys, depending on how many WRs we need, and try and load up on Texas guys to finish the class.

Texas appears to be absolutely loaded in 2020. 2020 looks like a really good year for Tennessee, also. Hopefully we can get in on some of their top players. We already have a commit from the second ranked player in the state and it looks like there's a few offensive linemen in the Memphis area that might be worth a look.

I just thought catastrophe syndrome had set in for him already since he has Alabama as a co-leader. The RB is hedging it’s bets in him since it looks like he could go out of state.

ETA. But if we strike out this war in DL, the in state opportunities are definitely there.

McKinley Jackson would be nice too.

I do think we will start to see players leaving Mississippi more and more as the years go on.

Freeze and Mullen are gone. Bama, auburn and LSU should be there at the doorstep Daily

After watching junior highlights and seeing some of the kids play, I made a top 10 not to long ago. But if I can say anything about this class it’s Burrle and Brandon Williams are two of the most underrated defensive players in the country. Both are absolute must gets.

Burrle seems to be dropping a good bit. I believe we're gonna go after Boutte, Guillory, Roy, Cook (if he plays FB), both Williams's, Moore, Clark, Clayton, and either Holstein or Finley. The rest will be out of state, mostly from Texas with how loaded they are next year.

The offers for Burrle are about to explode. He will rise to the top pretty soon. As far as Brandon Williams, LSU got on him quick but Tennessee is on him pretty hard.

Yes I agree, and I've been following LSU recruiting for some 16 years now..

And, this is why losing Constantine, Harris, and Tongue out of University High is such a big hurt to LSU. 2020 will be a down year in LA...we need another OLB in 2019. Constantin could have filled that gap, Harris can play OLB, ILB, or safety, Tongue can play OLB or Safety.

LSU signed two hybrid DE/OLBs in 2018, one is a JUCO and he only creates two years of depth. We have one verbally committed for 2019. 2020 has two 4 star OLBs and one is committed out of state.

If Kelvin Joseph doesn't return to Safety from CB, LSU will not have recruited a safety in 2 years! Just let that sink in!!! LSU was DBU!!!

Kendall McCallum, no disrespect to him, and admittedly he hits like a ton of bricks, but is considerably slower than Harris at ILB. If you can't position yourself to make the play due to lack of speed, then it stands to reason there won't be a hit at all, regardless of whether its a hard, average, or soft hit. If we strike out on Nakobe Dean, the loss of Harris and Constantine are magnified because Dean or Starks can play OLB or ILB and McCallum is not able and cannot equal the talent level of Dean, Harris, or Constantine from a speed aspect and can only play ILB.

You can't sign one of the three (Constantine, Harris, or Tongue), not in your own back yard (State of LA), but out of the bed you sleep in every night (in BR, ON YOUR OWN CAMPUS)! All 4 stars and very highly ranked (top 10 at their respective positions). This is a recruiting fiasco!

Those that don't see this trend at U high and Louisiana as a whole as a huge problem are fools considering the trends in Louisiana/LSU recruiting the last 16 years and this is why we are not competing with Alabama on their talent level.

And, then there are the idiots and fools that post on this board with their comments and "expert" analysis (sarcasm) when speaking of Constantine, Harris, and Tongue; they say "We don't want them" or "their not good enough", or "We don't need them".

Only one of the three has an offer from LSU...what the hell is up with that? There is a problem with two of the three not having offers and it does not lay with the recruits, it is with the staff.

What does an offer cost? Nothing!!! Kids may change their mind...recruiting one player now lasts 1.5 to two years or longer. If you make the offer the door is always open if things change in a kids life. If you don't make the offer, the door is closed and says "keep out"...This is bad, bad, bad. You can't reverse the trend and put a fence around LA with this strategy. Sorry Ed O and Aranda, but this is not the way to keep LA talent at home with kids ranked in the top 20 of their respective positions, 4 stars or better and at positions of need. All three play at positions of need in 2018, 2019 and 2020 respective LA classes compared to who we recruited, are currently recruiting, and will recruit from LA.

As far as Aranda not wanting Constantine or Tongue, I don't believe it. And, if it is true, Clemson and Georgia disagree and I trust their talent evaluations too and they have proven better "overall team" results in wins than LSU has over the same period of time. RESULTS MATTER in Ws or Ls. We have never heard the "Why" in "why doesn't Aranda want them" when it is obvious they play at a position of need in LSU's current class. The chirping crickets with no answer to the question of "why" Aranda does not want them is the reason I wave the BS flag...Aranda want's them, but LSU hasn't made the offer...when this happens in recruiting, in my experience, the respective home team has no chance because of a prejudice against the home team/preconceived bias in the recruit's mind against the home team or the home team did something to screw up the chance of landing the kid. That may be the kid's fault in the first instance, but that is the school's problem and job to come up with a strategy to overcome the objections. The kid maybe set on going out of state. Thus, the home teams has to show the kid why staying home is the better option. Go hard at them like Emory and Sopsher. In the second instance, if you screw up the recruiting of a kid, then you do what it takes to fix it. I don't buy that Aranda likes McCallum better than Harris...What I do buy is that it's easier to recruit McCallum than it is to spend time and resources on Harris. I call it lazy and not taking a chance on being able to land Harris. It's called cutting your losses in time and resources and ending up with a lesser talented player.

Finally, they aren't just being recruited by teams perennially out of the top 25.

They aren't just being recruited by teams in the top 6 to 25 teams. NO, NO, NO...they are verbally committed to and recruited by & to teams in the top 5 for the last several years!!! Just let that sink in!!! Clemson, Alabama, and Georgia...

Ed Orgeron and Dave Aranda...you "OWN" these three recruiting FAILs ON YOUR OWN DAMNED, F-ING CAMPUS!!!

I don't think it will be too bad. There may not be any 5* but there are fifteen 4*. This year there were sixteen 4* or higher. The only problem I see is their positions seem to be concentrated at WR and DT. Only one each at QB, RB, and OL, and nothing in the secondary unless one of the ATH can fit there.
We seem to be in the lead for MS's 5* DT, and it looks like we're hitting the trail pretty hard in Texas.

Very solid year. Not spectacular by any means, but solid for a class. Have to go out of state to get your elite level guys at a few positions. OTs coming from Texas and in heavy on 1 from Florida and Oklahoma. Ricks out of Cali is still saying we're the leader. Johnson out or Georgia as QB. It's going to be another good class all around. Should easily be back to back top 5 (maybe 3) if they close with all the guys they are aiming for.

With the way this years class is filling out, I could see next year's class needing the following:
2 QB's
1 RB
1 TE
4 WR's
4 OL
4 DT's
3 DE/OLB
2 ILB's
2 CB's
2 S

Your point about them being concentrated in a couple of positions, especially wr, is what I meant by not good year. The state is full of 4* wrs that mostly fit in that 5'9-6'0 175-180 range. Seeing as though we have Boutte as a slot added with Turner and Draine already in I just can't see us taking but 1, maybe 2.
Its a solid foundation for a class but not going to get us where we want to be.
