Did you see LSU’s black Safetys in action in the last three games? I suppose that’s the gold standard? Moron.

I had a similar post to this in response to “this is DBU we can’t be offering white boys” and it got whacked. Is this site ran by fricking CNN?

6’ 197# to be exact. Power clean is accurate

Yeah Jack Hunt and Craig Steltz were definitely better football players than Laron Landry, Jamal Adams, Eric Reid, Ryan Clark, Tyrann Matheiu, Grant Delpit...

You missed the point which is that we are clearly missing on our top DB targets and having to move down the board now by offering kids like this who are K-State/Arizona level recruits. It’s not like this is a camp offer. This is a concession offer because we missed on Mekuba et al.

Late offers like this usually are a negative because it means your recruiting isn’t going as planned. Doesn’t mean the kid won’t turn out to be a good player. It just means other programs are having more success than you are luring players you wanted first. That’s always a negative no matter how the future turns out. If we can’t sell DBU now on the heels of a Natty then it’s a serious concern.

Steltz was a better than all of them not named Tyrann

I was at the Kentucky game when he got flat out embarrassed. Steltz was a solid and tough leader but he was physically limited.

There’s a reason guys like Weddle and Harrison S. are few and far between at the next level

All those guys were flat out embarrassed once or twice. Laron vs UGA in Atlanta, Delpit vs Ole Miss last season, Jamal vs Dak, Tyrann vs Bama part 2

Steltz and Hunt were also handpicked by the greatest secondary coach in the history of college football, and Steltz was fairly highly rated coming out of Nola.

Again, this Langlois kid could be good but the only relation he has to Steltz is his skin color for his position. We are literally battling K-State and Arizona for his signature, and the offer came late and it’s not because he was some hidden gem who revealed himself in a camp so we had more info than anyone. This offer came because we swung and missed on better players.

This happens every year when a kid’s Sr season gets kicked off, they show out, and they get an offer. He won’t be the last one to do so

It’s even less worrisome because there were no camps from March until now

So you think it’s just a coincidence that when Mukuba committed to Clemson and other DBs have been trending to other schools that we extend a relatively late offer to a DB committed to K-State?

Again, regardless of whether this kid turns out to be good or not doesn’t justify the fact that he got his offer because our coaches have failed to lure in the kids we wanted.

Everyone fails even Saban. But when you’re supposedly “DBU” and coming off a Natty then you probably shouldn’t be having to flip K-State commits. You should be able to capitalize and sign the cream

This is a cop out

You either think he is good enough or you don’t

False. We can only sign 25. You get the best 25 you can. That doesn’t mean there are only 25 good players in the country.

You don’t get on Sabans level consistently by settling for good players because you failed to sign the great players. Period. This isn’t Ole Miss.

It’s not that black & white. You have to recruit the best players while also balancing current & future roster gaps.

Like I said earlier in this thread, if he went to John Curtis he would have been offered earlier this year, if not sooner than that

There will be a bunch of kids not properly graded because of Covid. And a white kid playing a black position at a small 1A school is going to fall under that umbrella

This is not an issue of balancing roster gaps. It’s an issue of missing out on your preferred options that chose Florida, Clemson etc instead of LSU.

It’s a clear sign of a recruiting failure. That said, I hope the kid is great for LSU. We just need to be real about the situation and not always view everything through purple glasses. Everyone on this Board loves to pump up how great LSU is recruiting. This is an example of where LSU has had a shortcoming and that’s just calling it like it is.

Excuse my intrusion into y’all pissing match lol. I don’t post here much so don’t kill me...

Is space that limited that we can’t sign both? We’re thin as shite in the Secondary. I’m playing devil’s advocate here. I’m being told every day that this kid is freakishly athletic. Now, is he just freakishly athletic compared to the 1A kids he’s on the field with? Idk. But maybe he’s this year’s “understarred” gem and they offered cause they see it.
Flip side...First thing I said when I was told he was offered was “well, they must have missed cause it’s not like there’s a lot more film of him ballin out and earning it”. I get that too.

Guess what I’m asking is “does offering him mean
1. higher targets are gone?”
2. that they decided to take another S because they could use it and/or they really like the kid?”
3. He’s plan B if the higher ups don’t work out?”

3 doesn’t seem likely if the offer is commitable. (Think I saw it is)

BTW... to add to the profile
6’0” 197#
4.4 40
Power clean - 315
Squat - 400ish

Nice PC but overall, nothing eye catching. Pretty fast for a safety I guess. Now, if you add legit “freak athleticism” to it, then you got something.
Oh and I’ve been told he hits like a fricking truck

Last year Alabama signed a 3 star TE from Ohio ranked around the 500th best player in the nation. I'm sure they could have given that spot to someone higher ranked, they didn't.

Funny you bring up Saban in your post, considering his starting QB is a 3 star he flipped from fricking Kentucky
