I know, was just saying brown seems to fit the mold of a 3-4 5 tech more than anything.

I feel like we’ve completely forgotten that that DEs can look like Cam Jordan an don’t have to look like Danielle Hunter

spears was probably lighter at this point of his high school career.
my first though as well, then I thought I recalled hearing a story about Spears ballooning up to over 300 lbs. by the time he reported to campus later that summer at the start of fall camp leading into the season.

So I began to think Spears had to drop weight early in his career, while Lamar will gain pounds over the next 18 months.

I went searching for confirmation, and found recruiting data from 2001 signing day listing him at 285 lbs. and also his official LSU freshman basketball bio released in October of 2001 also listed him at 285 lbs.

I don’t know if he was a consistent 285 over that span or if different sources were using the same weight source, but he was listed at 285 his senior year of high school and his freshman year at LSU.

So I concluded he was not only another extremely talented two-way player from Southern Lab, but he was almost the identical height and weight.

Just wanted to add that LSU's best DL historically (Trindon Holliday) ran a 4.34. That'll be tough to top.

Danielle Hunter

I got to see Hunter play in high school a number of times. Played on both sides of the ball, also Special Teams.
Last time I was invited to his high school, Morton Ranch, by one of the Coaches. In their weight room, Hunter still had weight lifting records. They also had a picture of him in there. He was in his Purple and Gold LSU jersey!

what display on offense?

Hunter is having a quite HOF caliber career. he’ll finish top 10 in sacks if he has 4-5 more productive years.

Guys like Lamar don’t “take one for the team”. You play him where he wants to play or he’ll go somewhere else. No I don’t like it because we desperately need an OL but a talent like that doesn’t come around often.

That's wild, that's a big boy playing high school basketball. Like freaking Charles Barkley.

Personally, I find it dumb that OT- (OL in general) are not as heralded in this day and age. I understand they don't make the highlight reels, but good ones command big contracts in the NFL. A good offensive line is like having a solid drivetrain in your muscle car. You need it to be elite.

Its almost comical how much better Hunter got after making it to the NFL, He WAS, raw edge talent in a bottle coming out of LSU. A lot of fans claimed he was a bust, but he wasn't developed here.

Bingo. His true talent was developed after College.

No doubt, Andrew Whitworth is the prime example!

I didnt know Arik Armstead was an LT in HS. He was DT the whole time in college. I thought you mustve been talking about Terron, but he wasnt some big time recruit.

No, that’s exactly how it works. If you have at DL that can also play OL (which he’s better at) and you need him to play offense you’ll find out pretty quick if he’s a team guy
