Would you rather play for Elko or Kelly? Serious non homer question.

It is entirely too early to melt over this guy. I don’t have it in me after last night. Win out and sign this top class, then I can melt for 2026

That’s honestly a draw. You act like Elko didn’t inherit a very talented roster. But sweet take, Jim bob.

Yes he did. Same talent that Jimbo couldn’t win with. How is it a knock on Elko that he is excelling with the same talent that the previous coach couldn’t win with?

You’re asking a rhetorical question that indicates players should choose Mike Elko when Kelly has a great history of getting kids to the NfL and winning games. But sure we’ll act like you’re not suggesting recruits should choose Elko.

It’s not a knock on Elko. He’s a fine coach. But you’re suggesting it’s some no brainer that kids should choose Elko over Kelly which is hilarious given their two resumes.

Why don't we wait to see Elko's results after a couple of years in this league. He inherited a talented roster and supplemented well in the portal. Their schedule has also been very favorable this year and should be much more challenging in the years ahead.

Two things. He lost several of the 5* recruits, and it's the job of every incoming coach to retain the talent on the roster. BK could and should have done better in that regard when he got the job.

So you are going to base everything off of how many wins Kelly has as a head coach when he has been a head coach for 20+ years longer than Elko? All those years that Kelly has coached and he hasn’t done anything but achieve mediocre results. He has failed miserably in achieving championship success. He is no different here than he was at ND. Perennial 9 win coach and no championship. I remember when we fired an LSU coach that had actually won a natty for perennial 9-10 win seasons

Now you’re being honest.

Winningest coach in notre dame history, made Cincinnati relevant and has a nice record at LSU against a lardass with three years of coaching experience.

This might sound crazy but there is no right or wrong answer. But clearly you have, Jim Bob.

Ngl I rlly don’t give a damn about what these kids say until they make their commitments or put pen to paper it truly means nothing kids change their mind all the time especially in recruiting.

Like I said this is what you base everything off of. Kelly is a coach that can win but he isn’t delivering any championships. He didn’t at ND and he won’t here. I didn’t know that we as fans no longer hold expectations at competing for championships. It’s good to know (and thank you for schooling me) that this is what signifies success now a days……..

His best win is against LSU. Let’s not act like they’ve taken down any of the Georgia, Tenn, Bama’s of the world yet. Their schedule has been pretty soft. Overreaction

The talent was depleted before he took the job.

You’re not wrong, but all things considered Kelly has turned this program around quickly. LSU rarely has b2b10 win seasons. Kelly did a great job the 1st 2 years with a limited roster. Coach for a season or coach for a reason, who knows. Just wish he didn’t have a 10 year contract.

Getting sick of these La boys not wanting to represent the state school. I'm to the point of just don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out. Gimme somebody that wants those 3 letters across their chest.
