I would argue that it's the transfer rule.

NSU had quite a few D1 transfers when I was there 20 years ago. Guys from LSU, SMU, Ole Miss, Tulane, etc. Now those guys don't have to sit out a year.

Northwestern LA fell off after one of their players murdered a teammate. The coach resigned, many players left, and they haven't recovered since.

NSU is probably trending towards getting rid of its football program all together. They have come close before (recently) and just lost to a community college out of Pineville.

A lot of schools should think about going that direction.

Football is a massive investment just to not be terrible.
