I saw Harris when they hosted Mandeville in 2018, and he dominated in all three phases like no one else I've seen in the last three years.

His recruitment, or lack there of at LSU and by Aranda was very strange. There were a lot of narratives from him refusing to camp at LSU to Dave not wanting him because he was too much of a tweener and liking McCallum more. My non-sourced best guess would be that Bama and Nick already had their hooks in him and Dave and LSU decided not to exhaust resources on a lost cause.

— Let’s start with what we know on elite Ponchatoula (LA.) safety Jacoby Mathews. I mentioned over the weekend that Texas was in a sneaky good position for him. Texas, Florida and LSU are likely the three schools at the top for him, but it sounds like Mathews has expressed to those around him that Texas and Florida are the main competitors. I spoke with a few sources over the weekend who even felt that the Longhorns might have the slight edge in this recruitment.

It also helps that Terry Joseph has an advantage with his Louisiana roots. Joseph knows Ponchatoula head coach Hank Tierney well having worked in the Louisiana high school system and that’s providing a plus for Texas at the moment. As for a timetable, while one source told me it could be a marathon, another told me that it wouldn’t surprise them if this recruitment was shut down sooner rather than later. Allen is already in the fold and we’ve got Crystal Ball picks in for Bryce Anderson. If Blake Gideon can close those two plus Mathews, that would be an elite safety haul.

Sat by his dad at a game. He played for Nichols(I think) and is a big man.

Kid has 2 more years as starter for one of the better programs in the state. And will step up as a major target at wr with The Truth throwing to him

Jacoby Mathews - S ... No. 3 prospect in Louisiana (was No. 6)

Nobody made a bigger jump in Louisiana's new Top247 rankings than Mathews, who soared from No. 163 overall to No. 53 overall, making him one of the top safety prospects in the country. He also has the size to move to linebacker at the college level, making him one of the more versatile defensive prospects in the 2022 cycle. Mathews shined on both sides of the ball as a junior and has exploded on the camp circuit this offseason. Like with Howard, the move up on 247Sports has now tabbed Mathews as a five-star on the 247Sports Composite.

I don't remember Matthews being a factor on defense against Mandeville the last three years, and last year as QB he was complementary to their big RB, who was impossible to tackle.

Against Mandeville in 2019 Mathews had 4 receptions for 158 yards and 3 TDs and 2 interceptions.

I’ll do some digging tomorrow. Not having camps makes me believe you won’t get anything accurate.
