Kolaj Cobbins… what am I missing here??

Does he play lower level comp? Lack size? What is it? He’s got some of the most impressive tape I’ve seen out any other defensive kid in the class. Yet I haven’t heard much fanfare on him on here. Maybe I missed it.

Im really talking about LSU fans on here I haven’t heard anyone rave about him and I think he deserves it!

And King wrote essentially the same thing about not being talked about here by anyone.
I talked about him last week here and IMO is one of the 3 most underrated LSU signees (medium 4* by 247 composite). The other two being Reliford and Echols. I say all of these 3 are in the top 50 players nationally...5* in my book. He is quick, fast, and physical. Thanks for the SR highlights.

He carries pretty good ranking on most of the services. 247 has him as our second best recruit. Rivals has him way up there. On3 is the lowball outlier…

Huh? 247 sports itself has Cobbins as the 11th best HS signee for LSU...barely a 4*. Composite 247 has him 7th best signee.

He isn't big enough for DE and not fast enough for LB. That's why he isn't rated higher.

Utter nonsense! He is PLENTY fast enough for LBer. You must work for one of the recruiting services.

Nnnnnnooooo, that poster completely misevaluated the player. Sorry, but incompetence gets downvoted and your support of his answer tells me you are just as fricking bad at it as he is. The response he gave was the correct answer to the op. No need to be a dick because you disagree. He's less than 6'3, nowhere near bulky enough to play hand down and lacks the ability to play in space to be a LB. Almost to a tee what has been the evaluation from anyone that matters, even LSU insiders. Does it mean he sucks and won't pan out? Of course not but those are the reasons the rankings don't match the tape. Marcel Brooks, Lorenzo Phillips, Phillip Webb are all examples of kids who were too small to play hand down, not agile enough to play in space basically making them situational players(in Brooks case) at best. All had better physical tools at their disposal. Fortunately for kids like him, football has become as specialized and as situational as baseball with pitching, and basketball with the 3 and D guys. Hopefully Cobbins can find his role.

Not a hell of a lot of difference huh? Too bad Perkins didn't know he was "smallish in size"
