How did we let a kid from Opelousas go to Michigan St?
Kid never wanted to come here including in the transfer portal. He detailed this on social media.

I know him personally. He didn’t wanna stay in Louisiana. He was ready to leave Opelousas as fast as he could and no one felt he was wrong for thinking that. It was that simple

On 247 6 of the top 15 (and 7 out of the top 18) state players that year were WRs. Coleman was the the 5th ranked WR in the state and 13th overall. It happens.

Or Keon's cousin, Ceedee Lamb, who stated, "I always wanted to play for LSU" but was never offered a scholarship by CEO.
Lamb also famously played PeeWee ball with Grant Delpit.

Got us to 2019 and then he crashed the plane.

I understand looking back and wondering how we missed on specific guys, but it's really just more evidence toward never worrying about missing on WRs because there is always someone else.
Lamb would have been on the same roster as Chase, Jefferson, and Marshall.
Obviously Coleman would have crossed paths with Nabers and Thomas, among others.
We don't have to go national, and we don't even have to get every single WR in state, and we'll still pump out NFL WRs.

quote:there is always going to be a stud WR or RB that’s slips through the recruiting staff because Louisiana produces a lot yearly. Deion Smith was a top 150 recruit and the top player in Mississippi. Nabers & Thomas obviously speak for themselves both first round picks. Hilton was a top 150 recruit and could possibly be WR #1 this year. Which leaves Bech has the WR they shouldn’t have taken over Coleman.
I've always been fascinated with the misses for some reason

Then, why are we recruiting Moore and Lockett? Why are we willing to pay massive NIL?

Coleman was a higher rated basketball prospect but Wade failed to recruit him.
Your delusion is unfathomable. He was nearly a first round pick in football, yet he was a better basketball prospect?
You can literally look up the fact that he was ranked higher as a football prospect, too

I don't make the decisions. I can only say what I see.

It's funny how people here often want to dismiss what comes directly from a person. Not everyone wants to stay in Louisiana. Frankly, that is understandable.

Just remember Bech outperformed Coleman his freshman year.
Bech
21: 43 rec 489 yards 3 tds
Coleman:
21: 7 rec 50 yds 1td.

Keon grew up in the projects of Opelousas and raised by his mother. Best thing she did was send him to Op Catholic. Being 1 hour from his home (LSU) and certain friends would not have been a good thing. He had to get away to be the person he is today. Keon is a hungry, alpha dog WR and will kill it in Buffalo with Josh Allen. I’m wishing him success in the NFL along with every other Louisiana kid drafted.

Sounded like he couldn't wait to get away based on how that's worded.

Generally, that’s because people lie often or at least modify their story to fit what they want people to believe.
I don’t doubt Keon wanted to leave La, I just doubt that if LSU pushed hard from the get go when he was in HS, he would’ve still went to MSU. Like others said, there was a few things going against him in HS and the fact that he wanted to leave the state made it even less likely to work. He played 1A football and didn’t have camps to attend to verify his size/athleticism. LSU had a loaded WR class and was in on every top WR recruit.
Neither side is as desperate for the other, but I bet that could’ve been different if LSU wanted him bad enough.

Where are they now?

It means something into this thread as to the discussion was about Coleman and LSU taking Bech over him.
As for where are they now: Not at LSU.
