Safe
Game ready
And fine

You’re really selling transfers.

I normally dont agree with Lester much but hes right. Its a new era in college football and you can easily grab a kid out of the portal if needed. Clearly Howard is 3rd on the totem pole and Nuss is the next in line to take the reigns. With Collins coming in and Hurley on deck the QB room is fine. Get over your feelings about Howard, too many assumed he was coming in and gonna be the next Joe Burrow. Recruit a bunch of good players and have them compete and let the cream rise to the top because in todays game the ones who arent the one who rises up will leave and go elsewhere.

yep. People don't get it. Notre Dame just picked up Sam Hartman from Wake Forest. Hartman is in super elite company as he has averaged more TD passes per game than any other QB in the country over the last 2 years minus CJ Stroud. Stroud is the only QB to go over 80 TD passes in that span, but Hartman had 77 in the last 2 years and has over 100 TD passes in his career.

Go look at all the way too early top 25s and see where ND is ranked after that happened.

Hurley is the most elite QB prospect we’ll sign out of high school since Perrilloux

Don't believe this is true either but the mere fact that it's debatable is sad. It's amazing we've won 2 national titles in that span and contended for another.

Hurley is important to keep but he and our fanbase have to come to the reality that we are gonna need to add another as well. Ha or transfer. Let's see if his "love" is legit or a social construct

Don’t be a fossil Sammy. Your QB room at a place like lsu is on a 2yr plan. Look any further and you’re a dummy

Unfortunately this is true. Someone taking the Matt Flynn route of hanging around for 4 years without playing will probably never happen again at a P5 school.

I really don’t think you realize how many QBs in CFB are actually transfers

Hurley is unlikely to ever start at LSU. He is a backup plan who will end up in the portal unless LSU doesn't sign an elite QB

Why do you think he is unlikely to ever start?

All we have to do is look at the last several Heisman Trophy Winners. 4 of the last 6 were transfers.

I think Howard is just a product of graduating a year too soon for our QB room. Don’t blame the kid for wanting to play at all, and evidently he’s seen the writing on the wall that as of right now, it’s JD to Nuss.

I seem to remember before the bowl game Howard stating that he just wanted the opportunity to compete (presumably for QB2). After the bowl game he decided to transfer … he likely decided he has too much ground to make up to pass Nuss, so he’s moving on. Sucks but this is going to become the norm.

Why? Collins is on campus for spring so it will depend how he develops. if he looks good and Nuss is the starter then you have Collins and Hurley as backups for 24

Yep. And within 4 years, lsu has pulled burrow and Daniels out of the transfer portal. A kid from Ohio St, and another that was a 5star.

LSU has clout in the market. When they have an opening, kids will want to come here. I think their standing will only improve with Kelly.

Kid has all the tools but a little bit worried, seeing that he routinely stares down his 1st read. Dare I be critical

This thread should be wacked. If anything, Hurly has to be even more happy now that Howard is leaving. Stupid...

It's the end of his true freshman year and he wanted to redshirt. Did he think he was going to start his redshirt freshmen year? Why not try and get better and then make that decision next spring if you really have to play asap. He must have gotten dumped by his girlfriend or something stupid probably after watching him play in that bowl game.

It’s been stated multiple times that he/Jamie wanted him to redshirt this year. His plan I believe, was to RS this past season, be QB2 next season, and QB1 the season following. With Nuss seemingly finding his groove and playing well in the SECCG and Bowl game, it’s easy to assume that’s knocking his QB1 season back a couple or maybe 3 seasons. The young man has decided he doesn’t want to potentially wait that long to be QB1. He read the room.
