LF played wide out in St Aug's five wide set and is extremely gifted catching the ball. He would be a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses and that's Cam's mo, matchups.
He wouldn't be a WR, but situationally, he probably line up in the slot.

if not the wishbone, Fournette in the slot replacing Jarvis on crossing routes would be dangerous. I wouldn't be surprised to see Cam using him in this role quite a bit, especially if Hill returns.
Fournette is going to be split out when we go 5 wide. He is a great receiver.

That's not a matchup nightmare. You put a safety on him or play zone. Simple

You've taken a great running back and turned him into a below average receiver. The only reason to do this is if your personnel package (two WR, two RB, one TE) causes them to put a run stopping package in. Then you split out your TE and RB, and force them to play against four WR with a run package. This is a legit gambit, but it would work just as well with TM and JH as with LF.

quote:Fournette has made it clear it does not matter. He's up for competition. Frankly in Miles' system, he'd see plenty of time even if Hill turned out to be the better back. I'll bet Fournette does not think Hill is the better back. The competition would improve both.
Jeremy Hill choice to come this week.. If he stays, what does Fournette do?

I don't think fournett is scared of Jeremy !

I hate all 7,000 of these threads.
Both play. Both do awesome. Reduced risk of injury with both being elite studs. Sophomore year LF becomes that rb1 but LSU will ALWAYS rotate.

He would be a 5 star wideout if that was his primary position.
You must have missed the word SITUATIONAL in my post as well.

To be honest, I think Hill returning help LF a lot. The expectations for LF are sky high. This takes some pressure off.

Big. Boy. Football. You play it with a bunch of mean, sinister mother frickers. Gimme both

you would think Fournette would want Hill to stay. He could learn a thing or two from a experienced SEC RB and not have to carry the ball 30 times a game

LF at WR is an immediate upgrade over anything we have coming back next year

Fournette will carry on!!!!

This. Having Hill around probably increases LF's yards per carry by a yard or two. Instead of sharing carries with a "change of pace" back, he shares carries with another big, fast, bruiser of a back. One won't keep the other off the field, it just means that each will be fresh all game long.

One thing I'll be looking for early in the 2014 season will be if Cam installs motions/misdirections with both Hill and Fournette in the backfield in place of a FB blocking.
I wouldn't think we would abandon the FB packages completely however, they factored more and more into the passing game and there's some time/people investment there.

I tried to downvote the OP again but it wouldn't let me. Dammit.

It's going to be like when Bama had Ingram and Richardson.
