Not sure the strategy to pay all this money for these transfers only not to fire McMahon because his buyout is "Too expensive."

It's like buying a Ferrari only to keep it in your garage.

I guess the approach is to let them just coach themselves and hope for the best?

Or it’s people that do this for a living acknowledging that there’s a problem with how much NIL we spend on MBB

Whats assistants owed?

Whats new coach cost?

It's pretty tough to judge how good a coach is when he's fighting with one arm tied behind his back in the NIL era.

We’ll find out this coming season. NIL funding is the final option to be exhausted for McMahon and we’re meeting it

Jefferson is a stud! He’s just what we need…a big body with athleticism who can score and rebound. We had no bulk last season and got bullied in the paint. This cat would solve that problem.

A reaction to the rumor by a fan on Iowa State's message board:

"Wouldn’t surprise me. We’re poverty."

Would probably be the best player to come through Lsu under CMM. Is that worth $3+ million?

Sounds like something Cal & Arky would do.

He would have led LSU in assists last season

Looks like $8-16M is the sweet spot to secure an elite 8 and beyond roster. Right or wrong, it's the market the game is played in these days....and it is not sustainable.

Why is it nuts? Do you people not follow athletics now?

Gillespie just got $3 mil to go from Maryland to Tennessee. This is what you do if you want to win

It's nuts because if they were good enough, they'd go into the NBA and make this. It's about what a mid to late 1st rd pick will make annually.

A guy playing 4yrs in college at 3 different schools, very likely will never have an NBA career.

I mean at least in football the players that are being paid to transfer are restricted from going into the draft to be paid, for the most part.

Negotiating $3mil just for 1 yr of a decent college basketball player is kinda nuts.

On Masconas show a while back he said LSU had 5 mil to spend on players. That would be 4.2 on 2 players counting the guy from UNLV.
Maybe it’s more than 5 mil now.

It's just crazy to me after every season it's a free for all in the transfer portal . Have to build a brand new team every year basically.

According to a post on their message board, Jefferson was asked if he planned on returning to ISU and he said 100%. Obviously that doesn’t mean anything these days, so I guess we’ll find out.

The melt on the Iowa State message board about this is Tiger Rant worthy.

It's a new era of sports. If you pay the buyout, you still have to pay for a new staff AND still need money to pay the players to field a competitive roster.
