What was his final position at Old Lady? Did he ever make the full conversion to 3rd string right guard?

H-Back or TE, I thought. Started 3 games in 2005 - caught 17 passes for 213 yards and 1 TD.

Man, what a waste.

TE. Cutcliffe and Oregeron completely ruined him.

Did he switch positions while cut was still there? If anyone could get something out of his qb talent it would have been cutcliffe.

People in this thread are acting like Hootie isn't considering LSU, they are wrong.

They can't understand that LSU holds the cards here .

Cut redshirted him then put Spurlock and Ethan Flatt ahead of him that's why he was tried at a different position. Then he had no development with Oregeron so he squandered at TE.

Pretty sure that was under the Annoying Orgeron.

Anyway, I recognize my own guilt in not using the sarcasm font now.

Cut switched him first as a RS Fr because the "QB guru" started an NFL WR and a no talent arse clown ahead of him.

He shows as a QB for 2004 - Cut's last year.

Man, Ole Miss is stupid - Tubby leaves them in a lurch, with the quickness. They luck into Cutcliffe who takes them 44-29 and they were 25-23 in SEC play.

Not good enough, they fire him and proceed to go 48-62 with his successors, winning a mere 19 SEC games in the process (although they still get up for us...we remain their Bowl game).

We wanted Hootie to start...didn't get him but all that is a wash if we land Adams. He should be top priority which he is. Would be sick if things change and we get both.

He is an idiot, like Joe Dean without the basketball/shoe business expertise (Boone's a banker, by trade) - Cutcliffe is a better coach than ya'll deserve. Freeze isn't bad, but I think he jumps at the first opportunity.

Cutcliffe couldn't win the west with a Manning at QB and after that losing season when given the chance to replace assistants he steadfastly refused to do so Boone fired him. He left talent deficiencies at every position which in conjunction with Boone and other factors put O in an untenable situation before he ever got to campus. A complete clusterfrick all around.

Classes start the morning of Jan 15th (I think). So there's the hard deadline.

That being said, he can announce with the windfall on Jan 2nd, or wait till after that to get the lay of the land. (IF he's wanting to go to LSU).

The whole thing is strange - Neville-based reports indicated he was really torn. He adroitly (I thought) sent paperwork to both schools because of his EE status. He goes ahead and commits to Bama (after speculation really began to lean that way), completing Bama's trifecta of the NELA recruits - the haul formerly known as "Saban's Raid". Now, he decommits 2 weeks later (after rampant speculation about the HC and/or DC of Bama, perhaps not being there even in 2014), in or around a dead period - and now he's rumored to be considering Ole Miss?

Very, very strange for an EE to be this up in the air so late in the process.

He just led Duke's best season of football - ever.

I'm not saying it was the school and not the coach - but objectively.... draw your own conclusions. 3 coaches since, well below .500 in league play. Only sniffed a couple of bowls - Cut went 5 times in 7 years for ya'll, winning 4 of them. That's not Johnny Vaught, but, given time, he might have been able to build on that.

Just sayin'
