Didn’t Florida play a lot of zone coverage? Could be a matter of fit in a scheme, Baker wants to play a ton of man which is Corey’s speciality

Yea this is one position that seems to be turning around rather quickly!
DL and LB are following suit also. I feel like the defense will be back to elite rather soon in the next year maybe 2 if we can hold on to players.

Ole Miss and that squirrelly arse coach have figured out the transfer portal much better than LSU has.
And we beat them and they didn't make the playoff either. And they're losing their entire roster because the transfer kids were almost all 1 year guys.
I think the real problem with our roster isn't the portal, it's the 2023 class being an all time let down. Building through the portal like Ole Miss is just not sustainable.

That's right. PFF has been criticized quite a bit for their work. But because their "grades" are published on a lot of college sites, people just accept whatever the say.
There is no one on this board who paid attention to a second-year corner from Florida who was injured the majority of the year. They just roam the internet and believe what frustrated fans say, as well as some "grades" they see online.
These folks are hardly football experts. I'll go with LSU coaches over the internet talent scouts.

lol y’all said this exact thing last year this time when I posted Jardin Gilbert grading out as the worst player on aTm defense then you saw this year for yourself lmao

I disagree. If LSU has the money to buy players every year, then it's completely sustainable.
Also, arguing that the portal isn't sustainable while citing an LSU recruiting class as the reason for LSU's problems is not wise. One could easily argue that high school recruiting isn't sustainable or reliable for building a college program.
The 2023 recruiting class is more likely a sign of things to come.

1 bad class doesn't mean recruiting from high school isn't sustainable

When you have that much turnover every year, the product gets worse. It impacted all of college football this year. No one is really good.

Bro we going shopping this Christmas. Thought LSU was poor or something. Least that's what I've been hearing from people that don't know shite on here.

College football was kind of a mixed bag this year. Ole Miss, Indiana, Ohio State and others rode transfer classes to really good seasons, while Florida State crashed and burned with their portal class just one year after going undefeated with the previous portal class.
I can see problems with always relying heavily on transfers. Money is obviously a concern. Can a school afford to pay the kind of money every year that Ohio State reportedly did?
If you're taking a bunch of guys that have just one year of eligibility, you've got to hit on pretty much every one, because they'll be out the door soon. There's really no such thing as development with them.
I also think it takes a certain type of coach and staff to be successful relying really heavily on the portal. Can you evaluate them, recruit them, the mold all those new personalities into a cohesive team in eight months? I would imagine it's very hard, and some coaches might not be that adaptable or proficient with it. Kiffin seems pretty comfortable and good at it...for now.
I honestly don't know if you can consistently be a championship caliber team like that, or it will be a roller coaster ride. Maybe after a couple more years we will have an answer to that, but Kiffin, whether he likes it or not, will be the test subject.
I will say, though, that Jaxson Dart was the most important transfer he's had, by far. He's been the heart and soul of that team, and benn the face of the program. If there's another Jaxson Dart in the portal, I sure hope LSU lands him.

The fact that 86 people liked us landing a 2nd string player shows how much we actually expect from Brian Kelly's aggressiveness. Hard pass. Dude sucks azz. Same with the Purdue kid. STOP POSTING ABOUT THESE BUMS!

So who’s better in the portal right now to go after at DB? Because I’m not seeing any CB #1s and/or All American caliber CBs entering the portal.
He might not be Thorpe caliber but I can just about bet you he’s better than the dog shite LSU has had recently in the secondary.

UF fans say he’s not good and was burnt toast the 2 games he started this season

Probably another portal bust but FL and Napier did botch slap LSU and BK. So maybe their backups are better than our starters.

Obviously PFF is going to get some things right. My point was our coaches are going to watch every play Jackson was involved in and grade him out. They know way more than any nerd PFF random. Football is a very complex game. Much more complex than any of those PFF guys know.

Did you see the 2nd half of this year's game? The most recent game against FL?
