ESPN did a story Dec 3rd on Stewart and went in depth on his limited high school playing experience.

ESPN Story on Jahkeem's High School Career

quote:

Jahkeem Stewart has played 12 varsity football games, the last almost a year ago. And yet, when college football's early signing period opens on Wednesday, the 17-year-old will choose between Ohio State, Oregon, USC or LSU. As ESPN's top-ranked defensive end prospect in the 2025 cycle, he is expected to receive a multimillion-dollar NIL package from the school he picks.

quote:

Once ranked as ESPN's No. 1 overall prospect in the 2026 class, this fall was supposed to be Stewart's junior season. But when the Louisiana High School Athletic Association ruled him ineligible to compete following an in-season transfer in September, he reclassified into the 2025 cycle and is now the 11th-ranked recruit in the ESPN 300.

quote:

"The kid had grown tired of high school football and had dominated everything and everybody that has ever stepped in front of him," Alexander said of the decision to reclassify. "It was no longer a challenge.

quote:

Stewart's camp expects him to be ready to compete for starting time in Year 1 and hopes he will earn a minimum of $6 million across the three seasons he plans to spend in college football. Other sources offer slightly more conservative estimates on what Stewart could command. In any case, his next program will be placing a sizable bet on the promise of his measurable traits, camp performances and a limited sample of high school action.

TLDR: $6M NIL price tag for a kid that played 12 games as a sophomore, and elected to skip his senior season.

Welcome to the NIL Era of football.

Reportedly highly productive sophomore campaign with 85 tackles, 33 TFL, 20 sacks.

This is a blurb from 24/7… I don’t understand how stats can be “Reportedly.”

Stats are stats.

Stewart's camp expects him
When these words are used, I am fine with them going elsewhere. He has been driving a little over a year, he doesnt need a camp. I dont see this thing ending well for anyone.

I believe this is what Saban referred to arse rat poison. Safe to consider this kid toxic. Still hope he signs with LSU.

Kid transferred teams in HS
Only has 12 games of film (soph)
Reclassified to grad early

He might have a high ceiling, but his film doesn’t constitute a huge NIL deal and I’ve seen way more BUST at this position over “can’t miss”

Which is crazy considering he was a highly touted recruit, and played for St.Aug.

Some of these quotes sure paint a diva like mentality, hope it works out in the end for the young man nonetheless

The kid is special. I just hope that he's ready to work, b/c there's going to be a lot of people looking at this situation negatively. My overall idea of the situation is giving 18 year olds millions of dollars, then expecting them to wake their arse' up at 5:30 and be hungry is a little delusional.

Money usually provides comfort, and comfort can make people lazy.

He will make an instant impact wherever he goes if he says hungry. He's the most dominant player I've ever seen plan in HS.

So, he's played 12 games as a sophomore. Basically "enters the portal" skipping his senior year.

Does anyone really expect a kid who is "tired of HS football" to make a long-term commitment to the school he signs with as a developmental freshmen D-linemen?

It is because high school stats are supplied by the teams and there are no official stats being kept
