I think LSU will be a top destination this portal offseason for a legit point guard/ball handler
I agree we need a starting PG from the portal.
And this is why I believe HVL does not return. We get a veteran All-American-type point guard in the portal …
Then in Kim’s three-guard system, ONE of HVL, Flau’jae Johnson, or MK Williams is going to have to sit the bench. And none of those three are sitting.
I am glad HVL is blossoming and getting comfortable in Kim’s system. And hindsight is better than foresight. I thought “hey, she’s an All-American and with Kim’s guidance, will become a super PG.” And with her scoring abilities I can see why Kim took her. Hell, I thought she was the best choice.
But with the benefit of hindsight, Endiya Rogers would have been a better fit for LSU than HVL. I’m puzzled why that didn’t happen since she’s Angel Reese’s best buddy. Sure HVL can score, but if we had a PG like Endiya dishing this season, all the talk about super freshmen would be about MK Williams and not JuJu Watkins.
MK is the best deadeye shooter in the country and has been criminally neglected in this offense without a drive-and-dish PG.

Madison Prep has a freshman to keep an eye on. Brooklyn Smith. Had a great game yesterday vs. Lafayette Christian.
Looking to next season, some teams that return a ton are John Curtis, Huntington, Vandebilt Catholic, Fairview and Southern Lab.

Clean
I agree with you about Brooklyn, she is a very good player, and again Kori has guarded both her and Jada doing this season. It’s not a coincidence that whomever Kori guards, they seem to not have a good game.
In football terminology, Kori would be considered a “lockdown corner”. Most of the college coaches that has seen Kori play all agree, she’s on a totally different level defensively than anyone in the state. Again not taking anything away from Jada and Brooklyn.

I don’t know if you saw, but I had bumped your thread about Kori on the rant when I was at the championship game.

Appreciate it Clean.
I didn’t see it. Lab should be back again especially with the addition of the Foreman young lady that was injured this year.

357, I saw several videos on 6'4"/6'5" F Awa Fam of Valencia, Spain, class of 2024. Observations--she looks really good and plays physical. She isn't afraid of contact. She can shoot from anywhere, mid-range shot looks good. She can shoot either right handed or left handed and has good control of her body to the rim. She is an aggressive rebounder. She has good footwork, good first step like Angel. She is usually fighting thru double and triple teams.
Hope she will come to LSU for a visit this spring. Have you heard anything new about her recruiting? She reminds me of Angel little bit (except little bigger and taller), and she can already shoot mid-range and an occasional 3 pointer. If she was already playing here in US, she would likely be Top 10/15 recruit.

I completely agree. I’ve been saying this.

Why is Shaq's daughter signed to play women's bball at Florida? They should have rolled out the red carpet for her.

Awa Fam would be an amazing pickup

Does she pronounce it Richard or Rishard?

I don’t know. I’m not very familiar with AAU basketball for boys or girls. La United is one team I’ve seen mentioned on social media off the top of my head
Hopefully somebody will chime in because I would like to learn more.

Thanks for sharing. Sorry, but I don't remember classes for high school in La. Article refers to 4A. Are there 5 classes? I am trying to understand the level of competition Jada has been playing against. She sounds impressive regardless, and also sounds like she shows up big in the biggest games. Can't wait to see her at LSU!

Yes, it can be confusing.. there are five classes and five divisions, but there is some overlap among classes in the divisions for the playoffs.
Lafayette Christian is in Class 4A and D2, the second largest in both. Some large Class 4A schools like STM play in D1. The smaller 4A schools and the bigger 3A schools are in D2.
They played a very tough schedule during the regular season. They took on pretty much everybody in the state. Walker vs. LCA would be the one matchup everybody would have liked to see.

Thanks for the explanation. Your posts/comments are consistently good stuff!

Thanks. I edited the post. What I posted the first time wasn't correct. There are five classes 1A-5A and two more non-football playing classes (B & C).
There are 10 divisions. D1 through D5 select and non-select. LCA is select as a private school.
As a smaller 4A school, they are in D II. Neville and Westgate, for example, are larger 4A schools that are in D I.
ETA another example at the boys basketball championship Class 2A Red River played Class 3A Marksville in the Division II non-select finals
