It won’t be easy finding 3 scholarship QBs when 2 know they have zero chance to play.

All kids want ti play immediately no matter how much development they need. If we get Sorsby finding 2 backups will be tough unless youre looking for guys like AJ Swann (who actually is in the portal now). MVB would have been the perfect backup and if I were LSU I would highly consider trying to pay MVB a little over his value just to keep a guy with SEC experience ready if lord forbid our starter goes down.

All kids need to realize they aren't starter material, you will see kids transferring 3-4 times as a norm now. Basically you have to recruit a new team every year because someone is butthurt he didn't earn playing time because he wasn't the best. And now money is involved will make the laziness worse. Think about it what would you do if you were 18 years old and a college handed you 3-5 million dollars to play football when you haven't earned the first penny yet. Entitlement at its finest. I would think they need to come up with some kind of system like the NFL where they have max rookie contracts for the highest picks and then go down from there, the better your are the more you earn and give stability bonuses basically if you stay at that school you sign a contract with you get more money every year based on the years at that school.

I guarantee you there are several middling QBs out there who are serviceable but want to coach someday and would love to be at LSU under Lane. These types won't expect to start.

Go grab a D2 hail mary like Chambliss was. A guy who knows the odds may be stacked against him but wants to be apart at a big time program. Would also receive a hell of a day to day life upgrade and money on top

Kiffin somehow got walker howard who didn't want to be third string at LSU to be third string.

thank you for your input lsupilot07 - I'll let kiffin and his gm do their jobs, though, respectfully.

Injuries happen , saying zero percent chance to play is foolish . So I guess Chambliss had zero percent chance to play too huh ?

MVB was willing to sit behind Nuss

Dante Moore transferred to Oregon last year even though he knew he’d sit behind Dillon Gabriel for a year

It’s possible

Easy. Sorsby, the okie state kid, and then a D2 stud

Same for everyone. Not possible to have 3 studs ready to go these days.

I don’t agree. If we are bringing in a 1 year QB, we should be able to find a young QB with multiple years remaining who wants a shot at the job in 27, but knows they will also have an opportunity as the backup if anything happens to the starter in 26.

Just look at this season. MVB did this and ended up starting. Chambliss did the same coming from D2, and wasn’t even sure if he would get another season. He truly bet on himself.

Some kids are willing to play the long game to get a shot at an SEC starting QB job. We just need to identify a couple of guys like that. Also, it REALLY doesn’t hurt to have a head coach whose last two QBs have been drafted. The one he just left is on a tear in the playoffs and likely about to be drafted. It’s a LOT easier to get a kid to come in and work with a staff that delivers results.

I think pre-NIL it was more about playing time than it is now because that was the only criteria. Now, it’s also about money so going to be a backup at a school with more resources may be a better financial opportunity than being a starter somewhere else.
