It may not be the class that LSU wanted, but it's the class that LSU needs.

LSU needs talent on Defense. This class is loaded with defensive talent.
The #1 CB in Louisiana, and the #1 CB in the country.
Two blue chip safeties.
Five blue chip linebackers.
Defensive linemen as far as the eye can see.
LSU needs talent in the trenches. This class is loaded with talented linemen.
Four offensive linemen including the #2 and #3 IOL.
Five defensive linemen.
This class patches nearly all of the currently known holes.
Can't wait to see what LSU does in the Portal.

We lost a couple of prized fish in Underwood and Phillips but all those fans/posters calling out mass decommits and the class was burning down need to go in time out for a couple months and cleanse their souls.
I hoped for stewart but he went to an irrelevant place as far as we are concerned.

Very solid class, even though just read some idiot in another thread called it abysmal. Lol. We did well in the trenches.
Would have liked another CB, and Safety. Also wanted to see another edge pass rusher. I wonder if we try Ross as a pass rusher? He is only 200 lbs, but has speed; not sure about his quickness.

Now you need a solid portal haul of players that have actually seen playing time...

The fact that LSU lost the #1 player and QB in the country, and the majority of posters here are happy with the class speaks volumes about how good this class can be.
Considering LSU was outbid for some major recruits likely means that the big recruits LSU did get took less money to come to BR. If these guys care more about development and fit, and actually want to be here, then LSU is in great hands.

Not necessarily. Brian Kelly clearly stated in his press conference yesterday that teams value players differently and that's usually based on needs. LSU probably was willing to pay top dollar for D Line and O Line players along with paying DJ because that's how our team is built and those are positions of need. We didn't need to pay top dollar for a 2nd CB. Meadows may have been valued more by Bama and hence they were willing pay more based on what current WR roster (Green and Pimpton). USC needed a splash recruit for PR purposes and paid $2m / yr. for a High School player with 12 games under his belt. Riley on the hot seat needed the win.

I'm honestly thinking we hit the portal for a WR rather than spend top dollar on a project 4/5* in meadows. Took that money for Thomas to help anchor the OL in 2 years instead

I agree. It's like the NFL now. You have a pot of money, and you have to determine where to best spend it. Hopefully, our pot of money doesn't become significantly smaller than other schools. It's clear BK is building a line of scrimmage-based team.

Thomas will be in the portal before you can blink an eye if he even thinks he’s waiting 2 years to contribute. If that dude isn’t on the field this coming year he’s probably leaving. Doesn’t really even want to be at LSU anyway apparently.

We gotta get some OTs in the portal. In a bad way

I ended up really liking the class that we ended up with, especially on both lines, but getting outbid for Underwood and Moore definitely hurts. Moore is the type of WR that this team sorely needed this year, and landing the best QB and WR in the country to go along with the top CB, OL, and CB would have been absurd.
I'm sure losing those allowed some funds to be reallocated to some of the guys we landed, most notably Solomon Thomas. If you had told me last week that LSU landed this class, I would have taken it 10 times out of 10.

I mean, honestly the only position we lost anyone from and didn’t really replace them yet was the QB position.
And I still say Underwood was always just trying to leverage more money out of Michigan. I think that’s where he always wanted to be. Sure, had Michigan not offered him such a ridiculous deal, he might have stuck with LSU, but in his heart he wanted to be at Michigan. He just wanted to get the most he could from them.

Due to portal losses and the draft we will need some WRs.

It’s a strong class no doubt, but if Nuss doesn’t come back we’re pretty much screwed at the QB position heading into 2025. Hopefully BK can work some magic in the portal.
