Isnt Underwood the highest rated player we've ever gotten a commitment from?

Jayden Daniels not being top 3 is wild

I would consider JD the most impressive development that Kelly has had that LSU, not necessarily the most impressive pull

You still have to go with Underwood. Pulling the number 1 player and number 1 QB in a class is program defining and often leads to pulling in other recruits like Pickett. QB is without a doubt the most important position on the roster.you could have top quality players across the board but if your QB isn’t at least a decent college QB, you aren’t getting far.

Still underwood He’s the #1 player in the nation from a whole other region

Plus we pulled him away from his home state of Michigan in the year following a Michigan national title.

I don’t believe he ever really considered Michigan

He’s not impressed with their offensive philosophy

He’s not impressed with their QB development

Jeff Wickersham, Kevin Faulk, and Perrilloux were all near the top of their recruiting class when they signed.

I get that, but still a crazy pull with those factors in play.

I bet that probably irks the hell out of Michigan fans on some level, just got a natty, have the #1 player and QB coming out the pipeline at the exact right time to capitalize on that and he wants no part of that

If including the portal then it's obviously Jayden Daniels. Among HS recruits I would go with Underwood or Perkins.

List them as you like but getting Pickett is as huge for the defense as Underwood is for the offense. Both are game changers.

How much does recruiting even have to do with it anymore. They go where the money is

Bingo. Some of these people act like paying players is new. I mean, they are probably getting paid more now than they were 20 years ago, but that happens with everything. Coaches are being paid more, the players should be paid more too.

At least now they are paying taxes on the money.

If you don’t think the big time NIL schools were coveting Underwood then you are crazy lol

Key word is “near” the top… Underwood is “on” the top of this recruiting class. Not sure if LSU has ever landed the #1 overall recruit in the country. Especially at the most important position on the field.

He's responding to someone who said we've never landed a player "like" him.

So if these players are "near" the top as he says, isn't that "like"?

He’s the best player in the country from Michigan of all places, at the most important position on the field. He’s the most impressive pull in LSU recruiting history. Hence, we’ve never gotten a player like him.

Of course they were. Every school was.

But Oregon took a legacy in Smith; Ohio State took an in state prospect. Both guys very highly regarded in their own right.
