To be even a. 500 team next year Kelly has to keep adding depth like these portal guys. It's gonna be a stretch to build up enough depth for a quality 2 deep across all positions at this point.

Give it a break. Do you think someone has to go to a top 5 school to have talent?

Good players can come from anywhere. They dont have to be from Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, etc...

So far almost all the transfers we've gotten have very solid to high marks from PFF grades which shows they can play.

Aeneas Williams played at Southern. Jerry Rice played at Mississippi Valley State. Every year, there are very good NFL players at small schools. In the age of the transfer portal, most of those guys will end up at a school like LSU by their senior year.

I guess there are fans who don`t think BK can judge
talent.A man who won NC`s at a lower level and won 10-11
games a year at ND won at Cinn can`t know football talent.
What don`t people understand about coaches jobs depending
on offering legit talent and winning. He wouldn`t offer
them if they couldn`t play. It`s called improving after
highschool at a higer level and maturing mentally and
physically and getting better. Some fans know tiis.

Here is the problem with the portal and your thinking. The players coming from smaller schools typically outperformed where they are and want more competition to get better evals for NFL. The guys coming from bigger schools for the most part(there are exceptions like Caleb Williams) are guys who have gotten passed on the depth charts and need to move on or have discipline issues.

Really? Some kids are late bloomers some get caught in numbers game . Jefferson was a 3 star and he is lighting up the NFL, not to mention what he did at LSU. Your logic is off

ULL, Cincy, and Arkansas players… we’ll be getting our asses kicked.

I know.....I would have hated to see that tackle from Pine Bluff years ago transfer to LSU. The talent level can't be close. Terron Armstead would have fallen on his face at an SEC School.....

At this point you need to get the numbers back up. You can't start next season with only 60 players. Get the numbers up for this year then start working on next years recruiting class. At least these players will have experience playing in college which will help us in the 2022 season. We will have enough talent to compete next season.

Moron?

What?

Many kids get misevaluated OR - they've really blossomed after a couple of years in college. If a kid is a 3 star coming out of HS, many of the larger more prominent schools are star-gazing and may not offer.

Now with the portal, we can use it to our advantage and if a Louisiana kid that we didn't think was ready to play at our level blossoms somewhere else, the portal will allow us to bring him to LSU.

I updated my original post with an edit including my apology for being so dumb. Thanks again for everyone for the feedback. I’ll post less in the future.
