Oh look, another O pumper with his head in the sand while our dline talent dwindles.

So you can't be of the opinion that our defensive line class to this point is disappointing AND we didn't need a sixth thread about it this week?

Those guys would have been seniors this year.

Unless they get hurt or leave early. Which is exactly what happened. And don't forget we were also in a transition on defensive scheme then. So yeah, you can't fix that with one class, problem is you've had 16, 17, 18 and coming up to the end of 19 to fix that. It's not fixed.

We had srs on last seasons line. They were from the 14 class. No seniors since Ed was hired as dline coach.

I replied to him because he is one that constantly reminded us the Ed fixed the dline. He hasn't, so when he puts down a smart arse response with nothing to add, I responded with one.

I don't see a diff in this thread and the countless ones before the season saying Ed fixed the dline.

Detillier was on the radio saying O was going to hire the DL coach from NC St but he ended up taking a job with the Saints. Now that Meatball’s contract is over I expect him to go after a similarly qualified coach.

This year was better than last year, and next year will be better than this year. We are definitely lacking a disruptive pass rusher, but other than that, it's a solid group. We need to see a couple of this year's freshmen develop into solid rotation guys, and we do need to add some guys this year, if we can, so we don't have another dip in the future.

recruiting years like 2014 and 2015

So it’s still Les Miles’ fault that we have 1 DL for the 2019 class. Got it.

it seems that our quality of talent has been going down at the position

Our quality of talent is going up at that position. When Orgeron took over we were thin and average on the dline. Lacouture, who was a two-deep talent, started for three years and was in the two-deep as a true freshman. Godchaux had to start as a freshman. Last year we were so thin we were playing two true freshmen against Miss State.

This year we had three solid starters in Lawrence, Fehoko and Alexander. And we had Farrell, Shelvin and Logan backing them up. We also had Cotton, Jenkins and Livingston developing in redshirt years. This is the way a position group is supposed to be managed.

I am concerned, as you are, that this class will come up nearly empty.. hopefully we can close with at least one talented DT to go with the one we have. Three or four should be the goal each year, but that seems unlikely this year.

Last years haul didnt have one guy who is a difference maker and this class is much of the same.

Cotton is not a difference maker? Jenkins? How do you know?

Quite concerning that 0’s narrative has been “rebuilding the lines”, yet these seem to be the most questionable position groups on the team in terms of current depth, performance, and recruiting.

The low info types eat it up so why correct the perfect excuse to lose 3+ games a year?
