If my memory is correct. LSU hasn't seen OL recruiting under Kelly this good since Saban.

Even with Heard Leaving Kelly in 2 years has beat anything Miles did. I understand Miles got a guy here and there. Mike's OL recruiting was very underwhelming over the years.

Now DL is another topic about Kelly. With Bo on board I expect that to be very good from now on.

When your future 5* LT leaves and it’s really not that damning, you know that position is a serious strength

Miles had some good lines

Keep in mind, we were also running I-form 9 guys in the box when Miles was here and we still had guys pushing and setting the LOS.

But Yeah, Kelly has this thing rocking and rolling

If you’re running I-formation, you’re O-line is supposed to be pushing and setting the LOS. that the entire purpose of the formation

Les didn’t know what a true LT was. He just thought any big guard could fill that position.

In his defense, he did come from the “3 yards and a cloud of dust” style football and that was ALL he was going to run. In that case, having big unglies was necessary to open gaps for running backs. That’s a fine way to play football if you can out physical your opponents. The issue came when Saban came in and had just as dominatingly big defensive lines and you ended up with games like the 2011/12 season where field goals determined the outcome. The difference though is Saban adapted once he figured out he couldn’t out muscle Les on a consistent basis.

Miles may have not have gotten the sexy commitments on the O-line all the time but he definitely found the guys that could hold and push the line of scrimmage. We ran the ball pretty easily during his time here. His issues was getting quality QBs.

Kelly has delivered excellent o-line play throughout his career and he often did it without elite recruits. The future is bright.

Now time to get the D-line on that level

The fair knock on Les was that he couldn’t land Cam Robinson and the kid from Thibodeaux that went to Auburn. Les put together solid o-lines, but missed some huge La recruits

Kelly has landed the big names. It can’t hurt that Ben Bordelon has an interest in these lines being good.

Miles had good Olines but they were all really good guards. No tackles. But I mean I understand why because he was never really planning on passing the ball that much.

Read it as if you implied the o-line moved the LOS in spite of the formation.

Not to bash on Turner as he did improve. But he got pushed back when facing a good DT and couldn't keep his position, collapsing the middle of the oline.

I'm looking for improvement at center for certain. And, we'll need to get better at run blocking as we'll depend on that a lot more this year. Pass blocking, we're elite, but run blocking needs to get stronger...

Let’s just hope nobody has to move to defense.

Well, this was helped tremendously by the terror JD inspired when he was flushed from the pocket.
