He's the chess piece every DC loves to have. He can be a game changer on all 3 levels.

I would definitely keep his role simple his freshman year, like Marcel Brooks. I can't help thinking that as he familiarizes himself with the defense, he could be used a bit like Clemson did with Isaiah Simmons. He could blitz or cover from almost any position on the field.

Perkins is actually very similar to Devin White. Both are incredibly athletic, can line up all over the field, and bring you big play potential.

A little apprehensive with concerns of the "five star headcase syndrome".

That's why LSU was okay letting Matthews go. Perkins is unquestionably the better LB. Matthews is not a S, he's a LB at the next level. Would've been nice to get both but if you only could get 1, you go with Perkins and it's not close. There's a reason he's rated so high.

Perkins is 210lbs. White came to LSU at 258lbs and slimmed down to 240.

shite I looked up a lot on Perkins yesterday I think he will be an All American at LSU. His athletic ability to play both sides effectively reminds me of the kid that was at Michigan a couple years back. Saw an analyst saying he's like Derwin James (yes i know he's a safety) and that's a great size comparison and they way linebackers are now if he gets to 220-225 he'll be a perfect modern day OLB.

Perkins is a more athletic Patrick Queen. And Queen was pretty damn athletic in his own right. Perkins is going to make an impact early and often

He is the recruit I am most pumped up about in this whole class. He is what we been needing on defense the last couple of years. A OLB that can get after the passer, play the run, or drop into coverage, all with great effectiveness. OL's are going to have to account for him every pass play just because he might be coming or he could just drop back into coverage. Makes the D way less predictable. A very disruptive player.

I would agree that there is not the level of excitement one would expect given his athletic credentials. The problem my be his PR image. In at least one of his interviews, he clearly indicated he was in it for the money. There may now be some reservations by LSU folks as his ability to now put that behind him and contribute as a team player.

Out of high school as a LB he's better

Also for those questioning his character, multiple recruiting guy from multiple schools who've spent ots of time with him say he's a mature kid that works hard

I'm guessing Aggie level jizz jars and nut squeezing?

Big time recruits committing to LSU doesn’t hit near the same as it use to with the transfer portal

I think the way he came across in interviews probably rubbed people the wrong way or they don’t think he will be here long. I will say his “tone” changed in his commitment segment and he seems laser focused on his goals and his contribution to this program and coaches!

Incredible how that works. His tone changed in your opinion once he committed to LSU.

I was very surprised he came and the fact that LSU is going to have to recruit him every year and some business owner is going to have to get into a bidding war for 3 years is exhausting.

Such an incredibly bad read

Bad read now that he is a Tiger, but it’s pretty much how this entire board felt about him after that interview then committing to Aggies.

Mathews was the hero everyone wanted and Perkins was a bum piece of shite. Now Mathews sucks and is dumb and won’t play, and Perkins is the best player to ever play football. Wonder what changed.
