I think it’s clear we’re going all in on 2025 QBs and Hurley is a backup plan / QB room filler.

He is *now* but that wasn't by design. You typically don't want to go more than one consecutive class with "filler" guys. Rickie Collins is/was a filler guy; we 100% intended for Hurley to be The Dude.

Hell, up until like 3 weeks ago this board would tell you that Hurley not being a 5* was indisputable evidence of anti-lsu bias by the rating services lol.

Good think we have a forgotten guy Ricky Collins. Really feel he could have something to say after Nuss is done.

He might. Very athletic, but his mechanics seem a little funky. He was also running for his life with a bad OL so that probably contributed to some of the mechanics.

Would be shocked if we dont pick up a younger QB in the portal this offseason.

I’ve watched Collins throw during Pre game warmups in every game. He throws a pretty pass. Yes better than both Daniels and Nuss!

I guess I just don't get what the rush is, when it really puts him at a disadvantage when it come to competition for a starting job.

Get to college sooner, learn the playbook for a few years, shine by the time you are a redshirt sophomore or junior then go pro when before you're 21 and have a long 10-15 year career before the body breaks down. Thats the hope. Unfortunately, if it backfires then He is probably done by 21 before his body is fully developed. Look how long it took Joe Burrow, Jayden Daniels, etc. to develop.

I don't see the need to reclassify that much either. If it works out great but it just seems like a much more likely scenario it doesn't work out.

Whoever he’s got in his corner that talked him into reclassifying is really stupid. He probably needs to be processed.

Considering what Denbrock and Sloan have accomplished with JD, let’s give them the opportunity to develop Collins and Hurley before we process them on a message board.

This right here. The night and day difference in the short amount of time should resonate with any QB in the country.

Hurley, much like Nuss/JD, wants to be LSU. The kid will work his arse off. Give me work ethic all day, every day.

He has all the intangibles that you would want in a QB, no doubt. He also doesn't seem to mind going up against the older kids, but he is having trouble standing out against kids his own age.

Granted, he is probably being held back by the team around him, but regardless, he should be raising the level of play of the his teammates. I haven't seen much of his film from this season, but his stats would indicate that he's not doing that.

Bringing in a transfer QB tho ? I doubt that we want to carry 4 scholarship QB's. Nuss's presence will probably discourage most QB's from coming here. If they dont beat him out, theyre stuck. Noone wants to be Spencer Sanders.

There are plenty of 22 year olds in college football. That's an insane difference developmentally.

The age difference doesn’t bother me. You have 17 year olds in the military carrying out war time missions. I’m not bothered by age as long as his work ethic remains high. If he turns into a bum, then we can worry.

He probably should have never reclassified. I don’t think he’s ready at all.

Honestly if lsu gets Underwood, I don’t think Hurley sticks around

Hurley played very well down the stretch. Threw for 1100 yards and had 15 TDs over his last 5 games including the playoffs. I think he will be a stud eventually.

He has a ton of upside. He reminds me of Bryce Young. At Bama of course

He is elite
He should not have reclassed that’s valuable playing and on job training he would be getting prior to lsu. But you never no. A redshirt and then competing with a guy his age that he has a year up on in the system with him underwood maybe it evens playing field and there is an amazing qb competition that the winner goes on to do big things at lsu and the loser goes and wins numerous other awards as a soph or junior.

He is a take and I just wish he would stay in school another year.

Not super relevant to the thread, but watching the series LSU put out about Daniels.. every time Collins is in the frame, he looks massive. Then I check his bio on LSUSports.net and they have him listed at 6’2”, 200 lb.

Am I crazy, or does he look way bigger than that?

Nuss had similar numbers at the same age.
